I am starting training with sni, at the Dallas oc. I'm looking for someone who has been to the dallas training in the recent past. I'm just looking for info on how the instructors were, how was the motel(name of motel), and how was their experience their? I would ask my recruiter some of this info, but she is on vacation. Any info on training in Dallas would be awesome.

    thanks

Im from Covington, La. thats about 1.5 miles north of Reserve. I hope that we will be in the same class. Please email me. (I'm not supposed to break the rules dot com) hint hint.:biggrin_25524: I would love to talk to ya. I can give you all the information that my recruiter has given me. I did get a sleeping bag, gloves, flash light, a few long sleeves shirts. I was told that when working with tankers you need to wear PPE as well as long sleeves. I motivated. Ready to get this learning exp over with so I can start putting some money into the account. Looking forward to hearing from ya.

Hey there. I just wanted to give ya a heads up of what Ive been told. I completed my DOT Physical. I took an passed my Test for the CDL permit. I had to take General Knowledge, Combination vehicle, Tanker, Hazmat, Air brakes test. The thing with La, permits is that there only valid for 2months. So try to schedule the permit testing a few weeks before your schedule to leave for class. I then faxed all the information requested to my recruiter. Once the class date was set up she set me up with a conference call. I spoke with a guy over the bulk div. of training. He informed me that after the 14 days of training out in Texas. Bulk drivers would then ride a van back down to Reserve La, for 2 additional days of Training. Then we would be set up with a training engineer to go over the road with for a few weeks. He said to be prepared to say away from home for at least 6 weeks, but It could be a shorter period of time. He said we'd need the basic's for school. Pen, paper, book bag etc. While on the road with the TE bring a sleeping bag. He said we'd also need a few long sleeved shirts for working with the tankers. The hotel we scheduled to stay in is the LaQuinta Inn. We ride a bus to Texas and check into the hotel. Transportation from the bus station to hotel is provided by yellow cab an there's a code to give the driver of the cab to cover the expense. On Sat. morning meet in the Lobby of the hotel at 0500 because the bus to the training center leaves at 0530. He said the hotel is about 12 miles away from the hotel. We will be given meal passes for 2 meals aday. The 14days in Tx we will not be paid. Once on the road with the TE we make 300/wk. He said that the school is very fast. Come there ready for long days. but the soon we get all of this over with the sooner we can make some money. After completing the training with the TE we will come back to Reserve, La an get set up for taking the CDL exam. After passing that test a request for your truck will be submitted. We will not be able to bring the trucks home. We'd have to park it at the OC Reserve, La, during our time off. The trucks or basic. Not even a CB. we'd have to supple that. Im waiting to see how the TE has his truck set up, then I will go from there. Im going to bring a lap top with wireless and cell phone. Dont bring too many cloths because there's not alot of room for storage. Im going to bring about a week and half worth of clothing. I figure at some point after a week of running we'd be able to get some laundry done. I hope this helps some. Email me. r26od at yahoo dot com. I see that your schedule to start school April 5th. I should be in La during that time. Cant wait to hear from ya.

thank you tankeryanker for all the info, it was very helpful. I live about 20 minutes east of Baton Rouge, so i will be based out of reserve also. I have already taken all of my cdl test, for the fact that the recruiter did tell me that if I got all of my stuff faxed in that I may could get into an earlier class. I want no until i take my physical thurs. I hope they get me in early, I am pumped and ready to go. Maybe I can get into the class your in, that would be perfect timing for me. look forwarded from hearing from you again.

the hotel is a laquinta inn on I-30 and jim miller rd. (pure ghetto), there was a few times when i went outside my room at night to smoke a cig and i noticed prostitutes in the parking lot, there was a guy that tried to sell me stolen property, the only decent thing is there is a denny's practically in the parking lot, so if you want breakfast (other than a cup of orange juice and a bagel), and there is a mcdonalds and a chinese buffet across the street.

the instructors are really good, as for class room instructor you will want "Hondo" he's funny as hell and he knows how to teach and how to make it fun.

there are several truck instructors and i can only speak for one of them, but they are all really good at what they do. me personally i had Jim Hicks (2006 Schneider instructor of the year) and he was an awesome instructor, they will pair you up with a truck instructor based on your personality and the way you learn the best (they give you a little survery to figure this out) and its pretty accurate.

the training is 2 weeks, and you need to get used to the idea of 14hr days and forget about having a day off. they have to stuff ALOT of info into your head in a short time.

i live in dallas, and my apartment is only about 8 miles from the hotel, but i still chose to stay at the hotel so i wouldnt have as many distractions and i would be more focused on the school instead of what was going on at home

    Hey guys,
This is my first ever post. I am new here but this is my Schneider experience. I am trying to get a job as a truck driver. I applied on-line to Schneider National and I got a call within 3 days. I am from Canada and the recruiter in Green Bay told me that Schneider has just opened a new training facility in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada and that this is where I would go for training. So after receiving a conditional job offer, all the information as to what I would need to have before the training began and booking me into a hotel in Cambridge I thought I was on the road to a career in truck driving.
I was to check into my hotel March 26, 2008 and my training was to start on the 27th. The training as it stated in the info sent to me was to involve, 2 days "Z" licence training (in Canada it is a required Air Brake course as part of our license system), 2 weeks inclass training and 3 weeks on the road with an instructor. At the end of all my training I would have me cdl (in Canada it is called a "class AZ drivers permit) and I would be put into a truck and on the road. They figured the course cost to be $4500.00 which would be paid back at a rate of $50/week that I was employed by Schneider National, interest free. If my employment was terminated or I quit I was to pay the remaining balance of the loan plus interest ($5856.84). No problem, or so I thought!
After getting all this info and a conditional job offer I began to get the required pre-course stuff done which was a criminal back ground check($30), drivers medical ($150), writen part of class "A" license($85), copy of current drivers abstract($12), making arrangments for baby sitting and child care for my son, my wife changing her schedule at her place of employment I get a call yesterday March 11, 2008 from Schneider. They tell me that within the last 24 hours that Schneider has decided to not train inexperienced drivers at this time and we are only hiring experienced ones. But, if I ever get experience please feel free to re-apply. WHAT A JOKE, I say. I am un-employed at this time and don't have almost $300 dollars to throw around. I tell the lady, I want to be re-paid for all my exspenses and that I want all my medical info that they have sent back to me imediatly or I will be contacting a lawyer. She just says to me sorry sir but this is all I can do, good day and hangs up. Then they call me back about an hour later(about 2pm) and say there is one last class starting tomorrow and if you can get to Cambridge you are welcome in the class. I can't just pack up at a moments notice and leave for 5 weeks cause of my family responsiblities so no I can't do this I say and again they say ok good day and hang up.
Anyway, I hope all you guys trying to get into this Schneider program don't get a run around like I have gotten and I would like to know if anyone of you has had similar problems with this company.(especially fellow Canadian's). I have a call into my lawyer pertaining to this and I also have this being looked at by a National TV program that does programs about companys doing things like this to people(they wrote me back and say it will take roughly 8 weeks for them to decide whether it is in there interest to do it or not). I will keep you all posted on here and let you know what is happening. Please post any tips or comments cause I would like any info possible.

    Good luck everyone,
