3 failure rule, can I go to another state before 30 days?

    In fact it is not matter of not knowing how to drive truck. It is matter of knowing the exact mark on the ground to use, for the exercises on the skill test. I know how to drive, I have many kilometers in Europe. But looks like state of Illinois is hostile to drivers, who want to get CDL on their own.
    Never mind, I will try to find school with reasonable price around Chicago area.

    In most state's there is. Here in VA you can't retest for 30 days AND must complete a course before a 4th attempt.

    This one is entertaining....the CDL school I went to only 4 of us out of 15 got or License. One girl event hit a car in the parking lot with the rig....lol

    The whole reason I still own a home in Ohio. Have an apartment/office in Illinois but I'm not doing the retest thing. It's just a stupid money grab.

    I live here in Oklahoma, I understand how you feel. I keep pointing out on the skills test... I have not even made it to the road yet (second attempt was today). I can drive a truck well enough. But the first time I took the test I got sight side parallel (I can do this maneuver with my eyes shut at the school) but I screwed up while at DPS because I panicked and rushed the maneuver (go figure)! Today I got the stupid alley dock, the one maneuver that I cannot do to save my life no matter how much I practice the stupid thing. Just keep your head up and keep trying, you'll get it eventually!

    Kalin, any update? I tested yesterday and got my CDL here! I'm starting my new career on Monday. Any luck on passing yet?

    I started driving school last Monday, but there are new rules for skills tests here, in Illinois, straight backup, parallel parking and offset parking. The lot where I drive is not yet prepared with the lines, so I am practicing shifting for now, and city driving.

    I passed the new skills test and the road test today :) Tomorrow will go to the DMV to get the DL.
    Went with Presto Driving school, in Des Plaines, Illinois.
