Jet460 & Moloko, sorry it didn't work at Ruan for you. I still give you a big thanks Jet for giving us a heads up. My husband is still real happy with them & I'm real happy with his pay! He doesn't work in the dairy division, it does sound like Ruan can be quite different depending on what you do for them. Keep us in mind if you find a local job with 2 days off continuous, my husband really misses two days in a row. Wishing both of you good luck on your new ventures!! I think you'd have to erase it, Jet460, as you started it.

I worked for a Ruan terminal for almost 9yrs the 1st 4yrs where alright the last 5 it progressively got worse. Had 6 tms in that time 3 regional vps and 4 operations managers. Holidays where a maybe for time off only real guarantee was Christmas and thanksgiving. I wasn't a driver I was a mechanic the driver's worked more holidays than I did. When I left there was a bunch of drivers that left around the same time we all had had enough. We were union the corruption at the union sold us down the river luckily they all got removed from office.

Yeah. The Ruan affair is like a bad mistake you slept with and now you can't wash their scent off. In this case, that scent is rotting milk, animal feces and the impression in your memory of scheming ruthless dispatchers wanting to screw you over.

Let's forget this ever happened; but if we forget that bad experience, then we will not appreciate the good ones to come. This is my first experience working for a 'mega carrier' and it should very well be my last. The pay was good, and that's about it. There is nothing good about this place.

I still have a voicemail on my phone of this really angry Ruan dispatcher going off on me on how they tried to call me 'four times.' Oh, I'm sorry d-bag, I didn't answer because I was complying with the MegaSafe 7(tm) rules of NOT TALKING ON A CELL PHONE WHILE DRIVING

I should really put them on blast and publish that message on youtube. Or I could put it on my 4 track recorder and play a nice acoustic finger-picking solo behind the ranting scathing message they left me. And it would go viral. And I would never have to work a day in my life again.

patswife; it depends on where you are looking, but there are plenty of local opportunities that offer what your husband is looking for, in California . Whereabouts are you guys? Hit up Los Angeles, Fresno, Stockton, Sacramento... any major metro area will offer local, two consecutive days off...

    patswife Thanks this.

My favorite Ruan Fail was when they called my personal cell phone leaving a "you're in deep sh**" message, telling me I could be terminated for a no-call no-show. They were very upset with me for not calling in that day. I had to pull my milk tanker truck over in Fernley, NV and let them know I had actually showed up to work seven hours ago and was currently about to deliver the load...

It seems to me that one's experience with Ruan varies wildly depending on the account and even the terminal you work out of. I've talked to drivers from their Fair Oaks dairy account in Indiana and they seemed generally satisfied. I worked for Ruan on a flatbed account, and management on that account and especially at my terminal was outstanding. Of course that terminal went through three bad TM's in less than a year before it got a good one. I ended up quitting because I couldn't stand the customer...
