You may need an apportioned plate. Check with the DOT there and make sure. If not, you can do a combined registration (at least you can in PA) which lists the truck at 30,500. You will also need a Commercial Drivers License, a Motor Carrier number and a DOT number. As you note, you also need IFTA stickers and to do the quarterly reporting.

The way I understand Texas registration, it is registered for over 26,000. Which means it is registered for 26-40,000. So seems like we are good. Thanks for all the info guys, y'all helped piece it together for me. -
1. Use the sticker on the door frame and fine the Gross Weight of the truck. 11,400 on mine.
2.Find the Gross Weight on the trailer frame. 14,500 on mine.
3. Add the Gross of the truck plus the Gross of the trailer. 25,900.
4. GCW - the weighted weight of the truck plus the trailer. 14,900.
5. 25,900 - 14900 = 11,000.
6. None of the axle weights can be greater the the weights listed on the sticker for each axle. Also the weight on each axle must be less then then combined weight when you add the ratings on your tires for that axle.cmbks21 Thanks this. -
Be careful just adding the stickered weights. Mine add up to 29000, but the truck actually has a GCWR of 26000 lbs. The GCWR is published by truck's manufacturer and is different from the towing capacity.

Thanks guys, my gcwr is 30500
Gcw is 16900, my axles came up to 34000,
Close to it anyway, don't have the numbers in front of me right now
