I was looking into intermodal in the Omaha Nebraska or Kansas City region , the companies that hire Owner Operators here are Universal or Hub group mostly.I was looking for some information here on these two before I called either one.
Universal or Hub group?

ummmmm I feel like hub is the better option universal is known in this area for low rates and even though they opened a terminal for almost 60 trucks near me that terminal is half empty
murat Thanks this. -
TSL is also located in those areas, they hire O/O's as well.

Hub has big fleet rates lower than some.
PM me I know a company out of KC looking for a couple of good O/Os and maybe a company driver, but only if you are good.,they do pay a little better that most.
call this number he might be able to tell you who to call about intermodal jobs in KC,

We lease a Cargo Van and a Semi to Universal. A lot of sit time for me and at times a lot for my dad. My pay on the Cargo is low and some of dad's offers are lower and unless he wants to sit or DH he has to take them. I have been sitting since Thursday.

I think the answer is neither...Universal seems to have the worst looking trucks I've seen. Talked to a Hub Driver today. He said they pay $1.08/mi. I'm assuming that doesn't include at least another $.23/mi FSC. $1.31/mile?? Don't think so. I'd have to do close to 3k miles a week and I doubt that's possible in intermodal without woking 6 14 hour days. $1.50/mile or close...sure.

That's where companies play their games. $1500 week means nothing to me. I'd be more interested in the gross pay and then do my own math to arrive at a net number. If that's $1500 after fuel, what about insurance on you and truck, your repairs escrow and truck payment? Pretty soon your only making $700-$800 per week. Gross needs to be $3,000 plus FSC or $3500 without. At that number, everything gets paid including you. I figured out I can pay myself $85k a year with that number (even after a $1200/mo truck payment). From the $85k I'll deduct income taxes, benefits, STD/LTD and a vacation fund.
