    Woman in China driving Land Rover fined $135,000.00(USD) plus 6 months jail plus loss of driving license.
    Offense, blocking emergency vehicle on freeway by driving on shoulder. Research of traffic cameras verified she uses the shoulder for driving and showed film of her doing this 23 times.
    People in China use shoulder for passing lane, but now finally enforcing the laws. Still have a long way to go though.

    They're finally getting serious about traffic laws. Once the local mayors figure out how much money can be made on traffic fines they will crack down even more. School zones and cross walks don't mean anything; drivers actually speed up and hold the horn button down; they feel empowered with a car. Most are new drivers because people now are cleaning out their life savings to buy cars and have never driven before. Driving schools are mandatory, but for a small bribe, you get the diploma without ever attending class.

    A section of road was still damaged from all the rain we got a few weeks ago. DOT was working on replacing it and drivers kept moving the barricades at night etc. to go down the good lane. The Sheriff here started placing a couple deputies near where it was washed out and started arresting everyone that went down it. That fixed that problem and now the road is back fully open. I wish he was the Sheriff when I was a Trooper. The last Sheriff would in no part work with us and in turn well just plain ugly....still don't know where it started.

    My Uncle did engineer work for a company in China, I know ironic. Anyways that pic reminded of when he told us that before you can buy a car you first had to buy a parking space. Craziness!
