14 wide, front escort barking to rear escort "IS HE CLEAR? WHICH SIDE DOES HE NEED TO HUG? WHAT CLEARANCE DOES HE HAVE? TALK TO THE DRIVER #########!!"
Rear escort is silent, I squeeze thru maybe an inch on each side.
When I clear, rear escort says "i didn't want to say anything because it didn't look like he was gonna fit"
THIS IS WHAT I HAVE YOU FOR! So I can find out I won't fit without having to buy a port authority toll booth!rank, Al. Roper, PeteyFixAll and 1 other person Thank this. -

I'm sure I've told that story before. It bears repeating.
Just because someone is sposed to be a professional-don't assume they know any more than the average shlub. Ask questions. Give a test. Their professionalism, or lack thereof, directly impact your professionalism or at least your appearance of professionalism. -
How about a escort in Indiana that provided a survey then leads the way(4 loads) only to come upon a bridge that had been removed. He almost got hit before getting fired and never got paid for the survey.
-
that's why I stopped doing escort loads... Way too many headaches.

I've had lead escorts call me on phone. Where are you?
I'm on route where are you? Idiots couldn't lead/follow route on permit.
OP I started with 14 wide units. But I worked in a company environment with 2 other drivers, we always traveled in pairs. Learned a lot and learned quick.
You must read anything and everything and when you have a question call the State DOT. They would rather you ask before a problem than after.
Most officers are really quite helpful, when treated with respect,
Don't piss on their shoes and they most likely won't boot you in the ###.
Always remember when in doubt, stop and look. -
i didn't see any of you mention anything about accompaniments. ( however that's spelled).
Some states want to see your maps and rules and what not, accompanying your permits. Like Cali and Idaho.
And, as was mentioned, some states might be 55 mph. Like AZ.
GA and NV want a sticker in the windshield for having ambers mounted, they don't have to be turned on.
I hauled a 14' from long beach to salt lake city. one escort required through cali and nevada. utah didn't require.
The guy tried to leave, even though he was paid for the entire trip. Don't know about AZ as the gorge was restriced to 12'. Had to take the long way in to utah.
There's an app called "oversize". I don't use it since i've only had 3 OS in teh past 2 years. So I have no review of the app. I think there's a monthly fee of $.99. Might be worth looking in to. -
And these are the knuckleheads you pay to have those issues figured out. Passing the buck at it's finest.
