I've been driving a concrete mixer for three years, and I'm thinking of going the roll off route. From what I've read the worst thing about a roll off is having to pry crooked doors on the containers.
Does anyone have any advice or input about WM or roll off's in general?

I did almost 8 years in roll off, what do you want to know

Just wondering what all it entails. Daily routine, Saturday work, overtime, etc.
Also wondering about WM. Is it a good company to work with? Opportunity for advancement? -
I have friends in wm, lots of paperwork, driver cams, seatbelt to use your hoist, even when not rolling... a little nannyish for my taste. But the pay is good. Routine will depend on how your shop is set up, but its a normal roll off gig, go in, pretrip, paperwork, for leaving time, first job, papaerwork for onsite, excc rinse repete. If you keep your i's dotted and t's crossed no real hardship. Sat o/t will again depend. Some are rotating 12 hour shifts on weekends, exspect to work. The more drivers at your shop the fewer weekend days you get. I personaly wouldnt go there if i could avoid it. I used to work with a few wm boys at acmom and pop roll off. There we were brothers, at wm they tell me nobody really talks to each other, its just a job.

STAY AWAY from Waste"WM" not in anyway a driver friendly company at all. About half the drivers at my shop are former Waste drivers none have one good thing to say about it. I moved from 100 yd trailer work to rolloff 16 years ago I like it if you like driving you'll probably like rolloff. I'd say look for somebody else that's hiring but a lot of trash company's will start you off in residential work and and you have to work your way up into a commercial route.
