Drop down a little to Florida where there's no personal income taxes.
I like the dryer air in the Southwest.

I moved from the Southeast to Las Vegas. The humidity can get really bad in the Southeast. I lived, born and raised, in Tennessee, but the humidity is much worse in GA,AL,LA ,MS,FL.
I really like the air in Southern Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona.

People say I'm crazy for paying so much for a small house in so cal. I tell them I'm not paying for the house, I'm paying for the weather, the beaches, and the sun dreanched immoral girls who come here from all over the world.

Look for a place between Mobile and Pensacola. Lots of work between those two cities and the humidity is tolerable since you are close to the Gulf.

I've lived in that area right right off Hwy. 98 between Pensacola and Mobile.
Trimac Transportation has a terminal in Pensacola.

If you want a tanker gig in Alabama, choose to live within what you consider a tolerable commuting distance to Mobile, Tuscaloosa, or Decatur. In Mobile and Tuscaloosa, you have OTR & local chemical carriers. In northern Alabama, you have pneumatic carriers.

Of course, Florida Rock is constantly running ads for gas haulers in several SouthEast Alabama communities.

Some of the jobs pay very well with excellent benefits, some....not so much. Do your research on what YOU want to do.
