Idk if they look down on us or not. But I've never been in contact with a securitas employee that I didn't start to wonder if me and said security guard had conflict in a previous life.
Its gotten to the point that I am. Beginning to wonder if miserable ####### is qualification to work for securitas.

The chill ones are like, "this is a dead end job, so hang out mr. driver and relieve me of some boredom for a spell."

The jerks? "Have fun in your little metal box Stalin, at least MY view changes!"

Frankly I feel bad for them if anything ever actually DID happen, most security is unarmed but is the first person someone will try to shoot.

P.S. I have a quasi-regular customer who corporate decided to spend millions of dollars installing a pass card security system on all the doors of their "campus", yet I've never had any problem gaining access, I just wait until someone comes off of a smoke break and walk right in.

Nobody tells their middle management white collar people the slightest thing about security process. I laugh every time I get away with it. I've never been questioned once.

I don't think you can generalize.

There are a-holes in every job.

A long time ago I worked security at a warehouse and dealt directly with drivers. I didn't look down on anyone.

The thing about being in security is that you are literally the middleman in situations that are usually less than ideal. The warehouse I worked primarily was a pharmaceutical company's. If you weren't a driver on record we had to obtain a copy of your driver's license. Not my policy - but one I had to enforce - yet I was the one that took the attitude of drivers when they didn't think they should comply. I didn't get mad, but I also didn't tolerate such behavior.

Security guards usually get paid around minimum wage. Most have attitudes worse than LEO's because something kept them disqualified for LE. Also some are retired from LE.

The pay isn't great, but depending upon location it is probably more than minimum wage. I started at $7.65/hour 28 years ago. I worked the job summers and when I was off from college. I topped out at $8.75/hour. I worked with some retirees and ex-law enforcement, but most of the people that I worked with were there until something better came along. Quite a few were college students like myself. Three of the guys I worked with became police officers.

Some are cool, some I really like, and there have been a few I wasn't sad to see get fired. Pretty much just like people everywhere else. Generally, if you're nice to them, they're nice to you. There are some really rude ones, though, or ones with MASSIVE power trips. 9 times out of 10, though, everything goes just fine.
