Well, I take 2 weeks off for the 4th, come back for a week and my truck blows up on me. Guess the trucking gods felt I didn't take enough time off. Turbo went out so I went home while we waited on a new one to come in. The truck was supposed to be ready today, but apparently the DPF was bad also and they didn't realize that until after they put the new turbo on. So after another week off, hopefully my truck will be ready tomorrow. Despite being lazy the last 2 months, going on vacation, then immediately going into the shop, I'm still in a great mood and not stressed at all. I think I may have grown accustomed to the blue kool-aid.

It's good to know that I'm not the only lazy one around here. Sorry to hear about the breakdowns tho. There is always August to start trying to get back in the swing of things. Lol.

That's what I said. Sucks that now is the time to be making money, and I just seem to keep spending it, but it's been a very enjoyable summer.

That stinks!! Did the oil soak the DPF system down? I don't know much about the DPF/DEF, but I had a mechanic at a dealership tell me a blown turbo could soak the DPF system with oil basically ruining it. He said if that happened it would be a VERY expensive breakdown. Guess I'm old school, that DPF/DEF crap still scares me....

I don't think it did, I didn't see oil leaking anywhere and I surely wasn't going through it. It didn't cost me anything except MHC charged me the freight charge to overnight the parts so that I can get back on the road. It's fixed now...so maybe I'll work tomorrow. I have a load for the weekend now, but not sure if I'm going to work tomorrow or not.

Actually, I went back and read the notes and they said it did. Oil throughout the system that couldn't be cleaned. I'm just glad my portion of the $16k bill was only $200. Though, I don't think I should have had to pay to have the parts overnighted especially since I didn't request that they were, I figured it was probably about the same as the extra nights in a hotel and it gets me back to work sooner so I'll let it slide.

On another note. If I am hauling anything on my flatbed that could in anyway possibly get damaged (signs, conveyors, machines etc) I always take a pic at the shipper before I leave. While in route if I discover something coming apart, breaking etc. I immediately take a pic with my digital camera and contact claims. I have hauled items before that were not put together really well only to begin to have issues somewhere down the road. This is where cargo inspections are so important while in route.
Not to mention a good digital camera :) No claims against me yet. (knock on wood)

You have to buy a new truck so that you are covered under warranty. I'm just over 150k miles, the turbo shouldn't have crapped out yet.
