    I believe the spring you added has put you out of adjustment. Try removing the spring and see if that gets you closer.

    I'll check it out, my largest concern is that the spring takes up the stress the wind will put against that small piece of fender, fearful it will end up damaging the fender

    If the spring is your problem you can shorten the copper coil on top to compensate. Not a problem really.

    I'm only suggesting this as an easy, and quick way to test if it will lower the swr. I'd certainly want to protect a sweet looking ride like yours too!
