Stay away from bars and married women and you wont have any trouble. Use common sense in ND and dont go wandering into a group (3 or more) of Indians, as theyve been known to resent the workers.
Everyone up there is doing the same thing, working as many hours as they can. Most rig workers are helpful so make sure you always ask where and what exactly you are supposed to be loading/unloading. Unless youre just pulling production water or flowback and have been making consecutive trips to the location. If youre not 100% positive ask. Nobody minds answering questions or pointing you to the company man, they will mind if you screw up the operation. Take your time dont get in a hurry and stay out of the way, if you can.
Also go slow at the location that mud up there IS more slippery than ice and theres a lot of expensive equipment and things that can go boom all around. Nothing like driving around a working rig at night trying to use all your space, turning the steering wheel and you keep going straight toward a stack of pipe lol. Drivers have been thrown off of locations for driving to fast and I doubt your company will bother trying to remember where you can and cant go. Youll be sent packing.
An inexpensive shotgun or plinking rifle might be fun to have during time off. But there is a strict no firearms policy in oilfields and company housing so itd have to stay in your car and dont advertise you have it.
