Can somone inform me which cb radio is better ?

what's interesting about this site is the only person I've seen who makes common sense. and talks common sense is ridgeline...

 

as far as the original poster goes if you can read what I initially said he should buy what makes him happy it's his hard earned $$$ not mine not yours. the members who said cobra 29 or new or refurbished cobra 29 sounds like common sense or as Ridgeline says keep it simple.... everybody wants to complicate things on here. i dont do anything in my life that doesn't make common sense to me....

 

How are you getting a 4:1 Peak to carrier ratio out of an amplifier being over driven by 300% the rated input power at 300% modulation? That kinda sounds like a recipe for a truck fire

 

Since when is it common sense to run 200 Watts into 8 2879 transistors at 300% modulation?

 

I'm glad you recognize common sense 10% of the time.
Now if we could just work on that other 90% would be doing real well.....

 

all of your need to stop talking about amplifiers in a truck until your actually running one in a truck.. I'm talking about a 4to1 ratio on a cb radio not a a linear. there's a big difference in a straight 4/6or 8 pill linear... low deadkeys are used on linears that have 2290 pills in the linear.

Anywho, I found this one rather ... well something else.

"Modulation is not governed or restricted by the FCC so when the radio comes from the factory they are all wide open."

Please show me where the regs say this or lack therefore of this because the paper work I got for acceptance and it states right in it limited to 100% or less modulation.

Not saying to anyone you're wrong or right, but it is funny to hear this stuff. so many years of it and it is all the same.

By the way wonder what level of ham radio license you had there Prisoner?

 

It sounds like he's talking about a subject that he knows better than yourself..
It's irrelevant how long he's been a member of this forum.
Perhaps you might be interested in looking at toshiba's data sheet for the 2sc2879 transistor and educate yourself about how these things work
