Skatefrog, if you dont mind, who do you work for now and how much "home-time" do you get. Also, how is your wife doing? Thanks for sharing with us (me) "NEWBEES". I am also relocating from Charleston SC to Charlotte NC to be closer to family and a couple of grand kids (Charleston has poor trucking to their east hehehe).

I just applied for TMC on line, they haven't contacted me yet. I have a good work history, I stay for years at companies that treat me the way a good company should. I have a spotless record, 3 years driving exp. My equipment is always in tip top condition because it is my home away from home, Pete's are my dream, I've been priveledged enough to drive one for 1 of my 3 years otr, but I've been off the road for 2 years taking care of family matters. I am a female, but I'm in good shape, I'm not afraid of work. However I have visible tattoos, but I'm very proffesional due to my many years of management in customer service related jobs. does anyone know their policy on this? Should I call them? What do you think my chances are?

Thank you very much for that info! That would explain why the recruiter never responded either to my question of my being a female and what was expected. It's so hard to find a good company that works with your needs. ;( I want to get back out on the road sooooo bad, but I just don't know where to start at this point. I've done my time at bad companies, and also not so bad companies. I would go back with Western Express except that I really don't want to go back into New York. Everytime I've had to go into New York it's been a down right horrible experience. I will gladly drive anywhere else. Other than that, the only real complaint I had with them was their insurance kinda sucked. Now that my son is going out on his own, I only really have to worry about me, so that wouldn't even be an issue anymore. I just don't want to go into New York, ever again if I can help it.

Yea, I'm not sure about Melton, I knew someone who drove for them and it didn't really seem like my kinda company based on his info. I still have about 2 months before I can get out there anyway, maybe I'll get lucky and find a good company with the help of this forum.

clutch 13,,, tmc sorta tough on everything applied there several years ago, was approved but hate messing with tarps and junk the regional does more loaing and tarping than the nationwide side does they seem really professional in their hiring practice actually sent me birthday cards and xmas cards for a year or better and called several times , finally told them it wasnt for me, go to their web site have actual training videos and stuff, didnt like the idea of carring the tarps up a ladder like on the video you can find several threds about them on here both good and bad hope this helps a little " stickhauler"
Clutch13 Thanks this. -
TMC does hire female drivers. They may or may not have any female trainers at this point though, I am not sure. It is a lot of work, but if you are in shape then you are going to do better than half of the new recruits at orientation.
Tattoo's are fine as long as they are not "offensive."
There is a lot of good current information about TMC in this section of the forum:

Thank you guys very much for your information. No my tattoos are not offensive at all. I will keep what you said in mind. I know that I could pick up the tarps, but I don't think I could carry them up a ladder with me.
