Haven't posted here in a few. Orientation and classroom is done. Had to do sleep study on Friday so had to wait the weekend. Monday instructor called was coming to get me monday night. I mentioned that I was on schedule to test the pretrip the next day. he said to test he would wait.
Tested and passed my pretrip 1/3 of the way to trifected bonus. HOOOOray
He took me out shifting and in about 15 minutes I was doing pretty good after an hour he said I was doing great and we needed to scoot so we could drop this load and get another even though we had tons of time he wanted to try for an extra load for the week. Then we passed the pad and one of the backup pads was open so he said we should take the opportunity. So he took 3 hours out there with me.
I did the stright line on the first try then did some more. Did the offset both sides first try then did some more. then we did the alley dock. Did not get that first time but after a lot of coaching I got it close. I asked about the load he said pad time can be hard to get and that much practice was more important we would get what we need load wise as his FM would know we did the right thing by taking the time for training when it was available. He said in trucking you take the time when you got it as you might not get it later.
He is a 30 year vet driver with 8 years and 1million with prime. That ring is cool. I am his 40th student/trainee. Laid back guy from tennesee and we get along great.
He drove us last night to within 500 miles of our drop in loveland colorado. I drove the rest of the way. Hit Denver at rush hour. WOW but he told me what to do I did it we hit I25 and the rain started WOW but following his lead we made it to the Walmart DC shiny side up. They were not too busy he let me work the lot. I backed her in and unhooked. (drop and hook load.) went and picked up an empty got one of the new eco trailers and had it cleaned out and went to Johnsons corner for 10 hour. We have a 5am pickup at budwieser going over the rockies to Moab.
More soon I need sleep -
Congrats GB I can tell u a little bit about that rush hr driving seems like every time I get close to a big city its rush hr got to Omaha today around 5 and it was hectic (w/traffic on both sides at times) but I'm trying to get used to heavy traffic w/a big truck

we went through the rockies on I70. Instructor took it to vail then turned it over to me. We were 77,000 and we got to an exit in utah with only a shell truckstop that has 10 parking spaces. the view is incredible. Shifting was much better and even though we are not supposed to use the jakes in these mountains he wanted me too.
More later we got beer to deliver at 05:00 -
