OK I am going to use this one to chronicle my prime experience. This could also be my what TTR forums taught/helped me with but I think we all are most concerned with if we made the right choice in company. I will do my best to update at least weekly. But during my instruction phase and my training phase I will be a student first and a blogger second.

Today is exactly one week before I start and I tool my CDL permit (written) test today and passed. I followed the advice on the threads here and felt that it was better to get it before getting to SPRINGMO. And I also followed the advice of the threads and read through my state's CDL manual twice then went to cristcdl.com and took the cdl practice tests and combination tests and the airbrakes test. the day of my actual test.

I PASSED easily and it was ab=mazing how well prepared I was and how many of the questions while not the same were similar enough I knew the answers. It was also cool that by taking the practice tests I understood a number of things better than by just reading the book. I say this because while passing the test gets me on the road understanding the concepts keeps me and others alive. So I suggest the tests.

I am from Florida and there are limited spaces at Prime for Florida drivers. I almost did not get in due to space available. If you have questions about florida we can start a different thread. But I wanted to mention that the great stat of Florida does not chare a single cent for your permit if you pass it on the first try. also there is no DOT physical required for the permit. Of course that all changes whit the actual CDL.

Well I will post more soon but I wanted to say hey and I passed. I am leaving Saturday morning to arrive SPRINGMO Sunday around 1:00. It is a day early but I want an afternoon to chill.

An after though I have been working on my diet ever since I knew I wanted to be a Prime employee. This am I had my BMI down to 35 which is awesome. It has been about 40 for the past two years. We won't get deep ingot the fact that 8 years ago it was a 65 not a typo I was close to 500 pounds and today am just about 250.

So all this long winded stuff to say I am achieving my goals one step at a time. I am 42 but I finally decided what I wanted to do when I grew up. And now I get to.

    go GATORS

    Congrats man.

Keep up the effort you have so far and you'll have no problems in the orientation and further on in training.

Keep working on your BMI also. You take the physical usually on Tuesday and the food here isn't exactly 'healthy'. So be careful so you don't pop back up right before the test. This is what happened to me, I was around your percent and ended up at 39.5% when I took the test.

Good luck and keep us informed.

I studied the CDL book and took the CRST online practice tests as well and it does help ALOT! I passed air brakes and combos the first time but missed the general knowledge by one question. Went back the next day and knocked it out.

Not sure, I got my permit in Missouri. The local dmv is only open one day a week. Not sure they even do CDL permit tests. They don't do much of anything.

Well I made it to Springmo today The bus ride was ... well a bus ride. It had good and bad like I am sure driving will daily as well. I got to the campus inn and the clerks wer helpful nice and awesome. Room is clean.

I met a LO that is returning from dealing with some home stuff. He says he used to train. Great guy. We went to the Millennium building for dinner and it was awesome. We went to look at the lease trucks and that was so cool to actually sit in the cab as I haven never been in one before.

I do not have to do anything until 4:00 so I plan on working out at the gym fill out this stack of paperwork BLACK INK.

Let you know how day 1 goes

I met seebs today and then 212degrees. SEEBs was vey helpful and gave me some great info.

we(212 and I) went out to the lease lot again(for me 212 got in this AM) and checked out the tractors. again awesome. We met a guy who went through PSD and has enough miles to go lease. he is considering it. He walked us through pretrip very helpful as most have been. awesome work environment here.

had my sim time this afternoon. it was cool. I know it is not a truck but great intro to db clutch and how all the controls work. Mike (bald headed guy that runs the sims was cool) at first I wasn't sure how to read him but he was cool when he realized those in our group were serious attitude it seems is everthing.

I will say this, there are 88 people in our class. only 8 had permits. YOU CANNOT GET ON THE SIM UNTIL YOU HAVE PERMIT so get your permit if at all possible. so our first official class is tuesday at 7:00 am. But do to the advice give here I have my permit out of the way and the sim part as well. THANK YOU FOR THE HELP.
