Yea, I did wake up.. ensure he was up and ready to drive. He was on the phone with someone drinking a drink. Not like I woke him up in the bed... He was up, dressed and ready to drive. After I fell asleep, he went into the bunk. Don't know why, when he was 15 minutes from the departure time. Fool me once.....

Unfortunately, you have to set an alarm for departure time to supervise these guys.

Just wait until they shut off the fuel at the most Inconvienent time....
You know, where they bump the handle switch after only 20gals and you are under a tight schedule, your hours away from being able to run another macro 27, and there is no way you can run on the amount in the tanks before getting to another truckstop.
Oh, and BTW you have already told the trainee a dozen times about this scenario and he sstill manages to do it.
So now you got to get on the phone with Primes fuel desk after looking up your location and getting the code from the fuel book, get his card reactivated, get the fuel stop reopened and get the needed fuel.
You can't just call your FM, Comdata puts a block on the card for one hour after you fuel to prevent theft in case you drop or misplace your card with your load info notes while on the fuel island.

It is the end of the training, and ole Fred is happy that he now knows how to run a truck. As his trainer, I still ain't happy about every aspect of his abilities, but that is how I always feel teaching someone else. I dropped him off in NYC so he could spend time with family, then he is flying (thank me later) back to Sprimo to upgrade. I figure he has made me enough $$$ that I could spring for a ticket. That and I am packing my wife and dog into the truck for a couple weeks of solo while grandma has the kids.

Now "Fred" will have to wake himself up. Enjoy your time off.

Finally get to update my thread... After Independence Day, my wife came with me for a while. We got the truck and APU serviced and got to run a bunch of loads in the east. She wanted to go west, but the wheel never sent us there. She departed the truck today, to take the kids back to SpriMO for some dental work and prep for school.
Got a call shortly after FRED was supposed to upgrade. On Thursday night ole Fred picked up a cell phone in a suspicious manner in the lobby of the Campus Inn. He was FIRED the next day for being a thief. He called me, told me his story, thought it was a friends cell phone and was gonna return it. Security did not believe him, and my FM said the video of him picking it up was very damaging. So much for me $300 upgrade bonus.
On the bright side, I can report that "The True Cost of Fuel" (by IP) has turned out to be a real moneymaker. I finished June out owing IFTA about $74 and by focusing on the base price for purchasing, I was able to get $233 refunded to me. Big WOO HOO moment.
Another bit of news... I am now the President of Power Logistics LLC. Yes, we have created a business entity to start our small business. All I have to say at this point is ^&%#$%^^&@^$#&^
because I DID BUILD THAT !!!!!!! Now I just have to figure out what to do with it
