    PRIME Apprentince 6-26-12

I am sitting watching time pass by just waiting to ship off to PRIME Inc headquarters in Springfield, MO this Sunday. My recruiter, Danielle approved me and i will be attending the Apprentice program this coming Tuesday the 26th. I am extremely excited as i have done countless hours of research awaiting for this day. I am also excited to start my career as a professional truck driver for PRIME. At first, i researched all the negative things i could find. To my surprise, the good shined through the bad opinions and i decided to go for it. I'm hoping a wise decision on my part. I have all my items packed and all my paperwork in order just waiting to start orientation. Today is my last day at my job here on Long Island, NY at Outback Steakhouse. And it couldn't have come any faster. Haha. I understand the the original 60k miles for training has now been cut in half, and that honestly is a little unsettling. But wont change my perseverance to jump into the A seat and learn as much as i can with my trainer. Ive been reading these forums over and over and i finally decided to create an account so i can add to the fun. I know ill have to, "pay my dues" my first year. But im wondering how long that will go on. I have a positive attitude about everything i do so from what Ive read, Ill do just fine dealing with the bumps in the road ahead of me. I guess what im getting to, is... any advise? Do's and donts of the industry? Thanks ahead of time for your responses.

Welcome!! If my truck doesnt get fixed, Ill still be here....

Do's.... PAY ATTENTION AT ALL TIMES. Things happen quick. Dont ever become so comfortable you forget what youre driving. 80,000 pounds causes a lot of damage. Do, always be willing to learn.

Did anyone mention dont be late? JK. At Prime on time is late and early is on time Had a student in my class that was late for every session. They started calling him "late freight." Needless to say he was not there at the end of the week. Also try to find something a little nicer to wear than the clothes you last changed your car oil in. They do pay attention to those things.

Not surprised that the student running late was let go. That is one of the major points of emphasis for Prime.
