Hey IP Ty for taking the time in answering my question. Yes I do have a wife and child at home. I also have another child that I have joint custody so I have good ol child support ontop of that. Good thing is living with in-laws while I am doing my PST so I don't have those bills but I do have some like food diapers etc for the baby and I do have some debt which I'm trying to clear up as fast as possible so I don't have to worry about that any longer. So if you think going company is the best bet then ill take your word and wisdom. Also thinking of staying with my trainer for the year after TNT for the team money. We get along great like brothers and I think it would help having someone experienced to help with the winter months. Any advice on that? Also as solo my trainer has been hitting up Canada either once a week to either other week his tm loves sending him there and he usually grosses from 4500-5000. I take everyone's advice and put it all together and see what makes sense and what doesn't and go from there. You think sticking around with him would be a good idea ?

I'm not saying don't lease... just hold off until you've gotten this entire trucking biz figured out. Take the time to see how the financial side of it works - and get your personal finances squared away. The less debt you're carrying, the easier it is to make this work - plus you've got to have that cash cushion to smooth things out.

Prime Logistics is for O/Os who lease their truck onto Prime. They get 78% I believe.

That is going to depend entirely on how much he is going to pay you for pulling your end of the bargain. Lease ops can (within reason) decide how much they are going to pay their team driver. If you are both company, it's a straight xx cpm to the truck, split 50/50 between the drivers. Going company means 1. you have access to the medical/dental/etc benefits at the company rate (not the best plan, but if it's all you got....), 2. you can make mistakes on the company's dime (kinda), and 3. you can learn more about the business of trucking w/o worrying too much about how much money you are gonna have to send home to Momma at the end of the week.

They don't care where you get the truck, you can lease it on as long as it meets their specs. Prime Logistics is for folks that have their own authority.

I have finally made the move to change over to an Ace lease. I plan on owning the truck when I finish. It is an option for those who want to take the ownership route. They have changed the downpayment requirements a bit, since they have initiated a new driver rating program. This program rates drivers based on MPG, Miles per week, CSA score and service rating. If you score above 3.0 over the last 90 days before asking, you can have your downmayment (starting at $13000) reduced up to $3000. You also get the longevity deduction of $1000 for each year you have with Prime. I now have a new truck number on my truck, which makes me happy. I can also start making little modifications to my truck (CB & lights) but I am not going to go crazy. (need a glasses holder and some lights inside the cubby holes) I will post more specifics about the Ace Lease a bit later.
