I use to run the Clearfield, PA Wal-Mart DC as an Key Account Manager for Cannon Express. I had 30 Aussie drivers and it was the best. They paid off the hub and ran the max HOS every week. But those drivers only went home once every 6 months. After all it was a 19 hour flight each was from LAX.

Shelbyville TN and Ulney IL are a deal for company drivers only. I'd assume that you'd start at 41-cpm, but it would be best to check with recruiting on that.

Sounds ballpark... probably not getting the miles that the OTR guys do.

Should have asked questions while you were there. Talk to your fleet manager... I'm sure he can get you the answers you need.

Orientation is only for getting the paperwork in order to get you on a truck. What you do once you're there is not their concern; they'll simply refer you to your FM.

I went from OTR to do the dedicated thing in Olney, IL when Prime took over the account a few weeks ago. They are still sorting things out and fine tuning so to speak, but they are beginning to get a handle on exactly what is needed to cover all of the routes. Several of the OTR drivers that have been filling in on a temporary basis have been shipped out and things seem to be settling in pretty well. As for the pay, it is a fixed amount based on mileage bands ranging from 50 miles to 251 miles. 0 to 50 miles pays a flat rate of $64.40, 51 to 75 miles pays $69.00, and so on. All routes over 251 miles are paid at $0.40 per mile. These rates apply regardless of what type of truck you have or where you currently are on the pay scale.

Driving on the back roads of IL with stop signs, stop lights, and lower speed limits, will somewhat limit the maximum number of miles you can get in any one week. But that is offset with the additional stop pay and higher rates on the shorter runs.

    cagmj Thanks this.
