FMJ is not the best guy to ask that, because the weather situation in SPRIMO right now is drastically changing our normal series of events.
A rough answer to your question would be, in general terms, any student who is assigned to a trainer will leave at the end of the class period- usually on Saturday afternoon, after class began on Tuesday morning. If the number of students exceeded the number of available trainers, then the 'leftover' students are given priority status over other incoming students, meaning they are given to trainers before the next batch are.
As of Tuesday, there were two or three students who were waiting for two weeks for instructors (not reefer guys though), and one who was a reefer chick, but demanded a non-smoking, female trainer. Given those parameters, she had to wait longer. There were four or five guys who had been there for a week. Most of the priority guys who had no special circumstances are gone now, and almost all the available instructors have taken students at this point.
To be honest, though, your attitude plays a big part in whether or not you get picked up quickly or not at all. One of the other instructors, and keeping in mind that I agreed with his decision and would have done exactly the same, chose one student who has been busting her hump, and showing complete dedication and positive attitude since day one, when given the choice of her and three or four other guys. Two of the guys he interviewed didn't impress him, and one just flat out disappeared when we started doing our student interviews. I eventually got on his case for being a slacker... he may correct his issues, or he may end up riding the dog home later, who knows.
So... I guess the short answer is this: Barring any special circumstances, you should have your instructor anywhere from right at the end of class, up to about a week later.n3ss Thanks this. -
Final clearance just received. Only first stage...... But, man what a good feeling.

IP corrected most appropriately. Weather has been a complete mess.

Wanted to throw a bit of advice out here for others that may be as ignorant or unknowledgeable as myself.
When you get your CDL permits or license, it does NOT replace your operators license. You will have TWO licenses to carry from then out & will be required to have BOTH with you at all times. BRING THEM BOTH WITH YOU.
As much crap as I will probably take here for stupidity, I want to make sure someone doesn't make the same mistake. I did think one superseded the other, and luckily did not throw out the first. (Almost did).Never saw much talk about this, so figured I'd put it out there in case it helps somebody later.
Yeah, I know...... I'm prob just an idiot. But, this is a totally new ball game for me.

Oh, and quit laughing IP..... I can hear you laughing all the way over here!

It really isn't that funny. It's a common enough mistake that it becomes a topic often discussed by instructors and administrators.

Yesterday extremely cold all day on pad & fair amount of snow overnight. Things have been a mess. Had to help salt pad today after plow to get it ready for testers coming back from PSD. Road tests were cancelled for day. Weather cold, but much better today.
Spent last two days on pad getting pre-trip down. Finally coming all together naturally now. (Helps when you wake from dead sleep reciting check list!). Seems ovewhelming at first, but take it in in sections & definately team with others., and it will go much easier. Do not procrastinate. The sooner you start, the sooner you will get it. Show as much initiative as you can. First.....for yourself. Second.... because you are being interviewed at all times. No slacking off.
Find drivers, as questions. There is a heck of a lot of knowlege & help to be had. But, you will have to step up & find it. Most, if not all are willing to help if they are not predisposed.
Some of the best practice & advice I've recieved yet came today from a husband training his wife. They invited me to team with her to practice pre-trips, then I got the basic run down on backing when he grabbed a trailer for her. Whole lot of other real world advice from him & other trainers on pad.
Hopefully weather co-operates and pad jam clears. Waiting on trainer for same reasons.
So far all is as expected. Actually more than expected, in a good way. Finding myself looking forward to each day.
Peace -
Well, recieved the call I've been waiting for. Get to meet w/a trainer tomorrow to see if we might work out.
Weather much better & things seem to be moving along. -
Was nice meeting you today FMJ, good luck tomorrow!
