Thanks, IP. You've been a great inspiration and a wealth of knowledge for those of us looking to make an informed decision. I always appreciate your posts and greatly appreciate you taking the time to reply to my log.
I am sitting at the dog house in Little Rock with headphones on, no noise, just keeping bums at bay... taking practice tests and studying all I can. -
Leg 4... again....
Little Rock to Ft. Smith, Arkansas. After the debacle with the canceled bus I was able to board the next bus headed west. This proved to be a decent ride, as I was able to meet back up with a driver from my home town with whom I had been traveling (inadvertently.) The bus wasn't packed, so we were able to sit together and chat a bit about 'local' things and folks in common.
Here I sit in Ft. Smith, over a 3 hour layover. I wandered about town a bit, over to the Oklahoma border, to a fantastic Mexican restaurant downtown, checked out the Trail of Tears. This town certainly has seen it's better days, but therein lies it's charm.
Next stop Rogers Benton, Arkansas.newbietrucker007 Thanks this. -
My neighbor who was traveling was signed with USA Truck... 30 years continuous experience, last 8 local. They sent him to Ft. Smith for orientation.
After waiting for the shuttle for almost 3 hours they finally called. 20 minutes later I look at the parking lot and he's still here.
He was supposed to be bussed to Atlanta (USA purchased the ticket and sent him here) and USA Atlanta doesn't know how to get ahold of USA Ft. Smith. The poor guy just had to walk to a hotel on his own dime, no help from the company.
He has decided to take the greypup home tomorrow and keep driving local, for now. -
Leg 5...... Ft. Smith, AR to Joplin, MO
Not so crowded. Fell asleep and fell on a supertrucker... He was cool about it. Seems I am the only one be has been nice to the entire past few busses.
Saw a TON of idiots, including a few Prime students come back from lunch drunk....
I just don't get it.Last edited: Feb 23, 2014

It's the final countdown.
Joplin to Springfield. Only 8 hours behind schedule.
This bus stopped within 100 yards of the station to squash two drunks fighting over bathroom rights.
Can't wait to be in SpringMo.newbietrucker007 Thanks this. -
keep us posted man
