Well, I'm settled into the Campus Inn. They are booked solid here. They actually had to send 6 of the new arrivals across the street. Not only that, they ran out of packets too. I'll have to get mine tomorrow. I got assigned a roommate that is a returning former employee so I'm getting a bit of a heads up. Now to just calm the nerves down, watch The Walking Dead and get some rest. Tomorrow is going to start early and be busy.

Finished the interview, playing the hurry up and wait game in the doctors office line. About 100 people in our class.

First day down. Got all my CBT done, and took my whiz quiz. Tried to get onto a Sim today, and was told by Wally that PSD is not getting sim time this week because they brought in too many people. Should finish physical in the morning and then on to whatever else they decide to have us do. I guess that there is north of 150 people here this week for one kind of training or another. Is pretty busy here. Lots of waiting, not much moving. Glad today is over though.

There were a ton of folks there last week also, part of it I would say alot of people don't want to start in the winter months and since winter is coming to an end folks are coming from every where. That is actually a good thing for me as I should be dropping my current student off this weekend and hopefully picking up another.

Stated pre-trip today. Got to get out in the parking lot and get hands on with a few different trucks. In all, I don't think we've lost more than 8 - 10 of the people we started with. Starting to get a little concerned about trainer availability as there are still about a dozen or so holdovers from last week waiting to go out. I also heard but haven't confirmed that there is one person who has been waiting 3 weeks because he wants a non-smoking trainer. Hope there is more to that story since it's my preference for a trainer as well.

Other than that, I'm pretty happy with the way things are going and the way we are treated. Can't wait to get through tomorrow. Hopefully we get id badges tomorrow so we can get out to the pad and get started out there.

Some students do not want to start till after winter and I would say we have trainers who do not wish to train during the winter months. Prime has had to remove some bad trainers also but they are always asking people if they want to train. I have been thinking if I want to do psd training but I have decided yet.

Kind of silly, really... I would think you'd want to get some practice driving in the winter with someone experienced sitting three feet away, who can give you immediate advice, feedback, or step in and take over if you're struggling. Anyone who starts now will be solo next winter and will have absolutely no experience driving on snow or ice.

I was actually hoping we would get blasted again for that very reason.

I would say we still have a chance of getting some wintry driving in, but that chance is diminishing. I would much rather drive in winter conditions with a trainer first, but if I can't, I'll just do it slowly and cautiously next winter.
