After leaving the Amarillo Greyhound station 90 minutes late and having a scare of the bus having to cool off on the side of I-40, the driver drove hard and got us to Oklahoma City in time to make our transfer and got into Springfield at 6:50am (18 hours later than scheduled) and made it in time for roll call. I was able to get everything that was intended to get done today which included getting all the paperwork completed, needing with security team where they confirmed and verified the information I provided on my application, did the drug test and got my physical taken. Thankfully, the doctor accepted my doctors letter about my medication (venlafaxine) not affecting my ability to operate a commercial vehicle. There is about 40 people in our class, it will be interesting to see how many are still around tomorrow. I know only about 1/2 of the class got each step completed today. I was done with everything by about 3:00, so I don't have a clue what the others were doing with their time, but I'm sure the people that need to know, know. Tomorrow we have roll call at 8:00 and were originally scheduled to do that CBT, but that has been rescheduled for Wednesday and Thursday so those upgrading can do the CBT, so I'm not sure what tomorrow will include. After dinner, I did get a chance to checkout the driving simulator which is pretty cool and hope to get a chance to actually use it tomorrow.

Glad to see you made it in ok, and were able to get right up to speed. I'm taking your earlier advice and flying in. Most of the way anyhow. Flying to Kansas City and then dogging it the rest of the way down. Good Luck with the rest of your orientation.

Day two was pretty easy, since I got everything taken care of yesterday all I had to do was the CBT which I finished around noon. I spent the rest of the day studying for the permit test I'll be taking in the morning. I had planned on getting my permit before I got here and an appointment with my doctor to get the DOT physical, but two days before my appointment and three days before my insurance expired from the job I was leaving his office called and said that he didn't do DOT physicals and I would need to schedule an appointment with an Occupational Therapist (only thing I don't like about Keiser) and there was no way I could schedule that appointment before my insurance expired. Any way, I'll have my permit tomorrow and then work on the Simulator. If they enough trainers, we'll be on the road Friday.

Hey dadischeap, this might be a stupid question but what do you mean by CBT?

CBT is computer based training, they are videos you have to watch and answer questions based on the video. I think their are eight of them that must be completed, but they are pretty easy and straight forward.

Productive day today. I passed all the tests for the permit on Wednesday, but had to wait on my doctor to fax something to the doctor here. That came in today, so went over to millennium building to get my DOT physical card and my bag that greyhound had misplaced, then went down to DMV to transfer over my permit, back over to millennium building to get my safety vest and comdata card. Only about half of our class were assigned instructors, so be back over at the Millennium building for roll-call at 7:30 tomorrow and I'll spend all day at the training pad backing and doing pre-trips until they kick me out and do the same thing Sunday if I'm still here.

A couple of things that have changed recently are that training now starts on Mondays rather than Tuesdays, they now require PSD students to take the tanker test with the permit test and majority of the students graduating TNT are getting new international lightweights which has quite a bit more room and storage than the freightliner lightweights.

The FMCSA changed the rules on palletized liquid containers a year or two ago... the larger ones that we load into reefers must be pulled by a driver with a tanker endorsement. We have a number of hazmat shippers that use these containers. So, you need hazmat AND tanker.
