I will be getting my cdl later this year from a community college in Illinois. I'm leaning towards Prime for my first company. I have a few questions:
1) My biggest worry at this point is the lightweight trucks. I'm not a small dude. I'm 6'3 and 210 pounds. Will I be able to stand up in these trucks? Can you fit tv, microwave and fridge? Do I have any choice to get a larger truck?
2) what are the pros and cons to each division? Reefer vs flatbed vs tanker?
3) I would prefer to run in day hours as much as possible (4am to 10pm) give or take. How possible is this at prime?
4) what are the current pay scales at each of the divisions for a first year driver?
5) what is your biggest complaint about prime?
6) what do you like most about prime?
7) do all trucks have apus and allow inverters?
Thanks in advance for your input! Choosing a company is tough!

I leave today for orientation with Prime, left KLLM and their lease purchase program. From what I know, Prime's trucks have APU's, every Prime truck I've seen on the road had an APU installed. I drove only reefer, the only bad thing about reefer is most loads are heavy as #### and the engine might keep some people up at night. (Never had a problem myself with the noise) the pros to reefer is you're usually in and out of the receiver quickly, most of my loads were drop and hook which made me able to get a second load after dropping off that day/night. Also, I ran mostly 300-400~ miles OVERNIGHT, but those loads pay killer (I was a lease op, so if you're going company that won't matter) I would like to know what other Prime drivers have to say as well!

Lightweights don't ave a whole lot of room most drivers I have seen put the fridge in the passenger seat some drivers get out of driving Lightweights though like me I'm 6 11 and drive a condo but the pay is better for lightweight
2) what are the pros and cons to each division? Reefer vs flatbed vs tanker?
I have only driven reefer so I can't really make a pros and cons list.
3) I would prefer to run in day hours as much as possible (4am to 10pm) give or take. How possible is this at prime?
Its possible but there will be times you will end up running nights.
4) what are the current pay scales at each of the divisions for a first year driver?
Refer pay is 37 cents condo and an extra 5 cents lightweight
5) what is your biggest complaint about prime?
No complaints from me I just work and what to be left alone.
6) what do you like most about prime?
That the equipment is newer and has good miles.
7) do all trucks have apus and allow inverters?
Yes a trucks have apus and inverters -
alright so I'm on lease side but ill answer as much as I can
1. lightweight you would be able to stand up but very little space and most people take out passenger seat to fit everything like fridge and microwave etc.. and you can have a fullsize if you take .05 less a mile
2. not going to get into that because I have only been reefer and don't want to step on toes
3. I usually run days every once in a while I run night but very rare
4. Pay starts at .36 a mile and if you take a lightweight its .41 and you get extra on top if you hit fuel goals every week. of course that's only company. lease is 72%
5. Compaints is hometime, but im lease so I make my own schedule
6. What I like is that even though its a big company it has a very family like atmosphere
7.all trucks have apu's. good luck with rigmasters, they break a lot. and they all have 1500w inverters. -

Thanks for the feedback guys! Lots to think about. If I knew I would get into a regular truck I would be all in for Prime. Still leaning Prime though. Do you really get to run all 48 states? That is really something I want to do before going more regional.

I've been to every state except north Dakota.

been to 44 lower states and Canada. still need to get to Washington, Oregon, Montana and North Dakota

Cool cool...I definitely want to see the country!
