I have my CDL, did 6 months with KLLM. Switched to Prime as an A seat, meaning I will leave with my truck after orientation is finished. But I was reading on the forums and somebody said something about a $100 fee that Prime charges? What for?
Prime $100 fee at orientation?

I was informed that I'd need the $100 for a twic card. But I'm eyeballing the tanker and flatbed side of things.

I think its for "background checks"

The funny thing is, my recruiter didn't say anything about a $100 fee haha, just said bring my birth certificate and whatnot. I read about the fee here.

Well, I'm going into reefer due to my experience with it (KLLM is a reefer company) never said anything about money. So hopefully I'm not putting my recruiter on blast because I don't feel paying $100 is necessary

Mine has been upfront about everything.
A fee for paperwork is not out of the norm in this industry.
You should be leaving for orientation with access to a good sum of money, regardless. You know it can take a while to get cash flowing in this industry. You're also hopping companies when we're coming up on the peak of reefer freight. -

First off chill.
PSD students are required to pay fees for their CDL permits, initial DOT physical and CDL... just like at any driving school. This doesn't apply to folks holding a CDL. At some point (don't know what the deal is with tanker division) you should pay for a TWIC credential because we do go into ports. By far, it would be cheaper to pay the $135 for it than shell out the escort fees over the course of a few years. AFAIK, you can still have it deducted from your settlement.anon6655 Thanks this. -
