It's not difficult, PSD instructors run the same as a solo operator

58MPH Truck, obviously no Break Down Times, 147,000 miles? No Off Time? That's punching out a touch over 3000 miles per week, EVERY WEEK. That's pretty strong under today HOS Rules. No Wait Times on Loading/Unloading Maybe. I run hard but can not average that each and every week. Congrats.

Thanks I worked real hard to get there. Not quite 3000 a week about 2835 or so is a 52 week average. Under the current HOS im able to run about 3300 without running out of hours, speeding up, or ever taking a 34.

I put about 135,000-ish a year on my truck. Typically I run below 55 mph whenever the schedule allows... you make more $$$ by working the costs than by trying to force another trip into the week. That works out to an average of 2400 to 2800 dispatched miles per week, $4,000 to $6,000 gross revenue. BTW... I'm solo, never teamed or trained.

As far as time off is concerned, if my give-a-turd meter pegs, I stretch my PTA out and get a room. Cumulatively I take 2 to 3 weeks off every year.

East of the rockies, but the short loads up in the NE are extremely lucrative. Folks see the small gross revenue numbers, get hacked off and turn 'em down. The truth is on a 100 or so miles, it turns out to be more net than longer loads. The longer loads out west also mean much higher costs because of the longer length of haul.

    This is an interesting thread.

I have heard stories of other companies who cut back on their company drivers' miles because they want to give the good runs to their PSD/TNT teams so that they look good to the new drivers.

Here is an example from the Roehl forum:

"An acquaintance told me when he first started he was running like crazy, but after he got some raises his miles started to drop, I never believed him because of how I was running, now I do because I'm seeing it first hand."

It seems like this isn't a problem at Prime. Although, perhaps company drivers who are solo and don't train or team-drive are getting shafted more than I can tell from this discussion.
