They'll only go back as far as what they asked you for. Do have addresses, phone numbers, dates of employment, references, etc., available because you will be asked to complete an application in pen and ink without reference to what you put down online.
They don't do anything unreasonable, but they will look at differences closely. They are looking for truthfulness, and its a way of catching ringers with a bad job or MVR history in their lies.
