Stick with it and get your year of experience and get a good trucking job. They'll make much more than slinging boxes at a warehouse.

Hi Wec, there you go. The big problem with trucking, is people come into this job from other backgrounds, and are used to, come in, put in your hours, go home, get paid. Trucking is unpredictable, and the thing that kept me going through my O/O years, was, there were good weeks and bad weeks. The bad seemed unbearable, but then the good ones seemed to make up for it. I'm glad to hear you are going to give it another shot.

Wec, when my husband started his miles were a little short because they were dispatching him at a lower speed because he had just started. Once his FM got a hang of what he was capable of the miles are there.

Hang in there and show them what you've got. You can do this!

Getting through your first year can be tough... there's a lot that's changing in your life right now, and the isolation that comes with being a solo truck driver sure doesn't help. Understand that there is an ebb and flow to freight, and the last thing you're going to have is a steady paycheck like the 8-to-5 world gets.. Some weeks are going to be fat and some are going to be slim.

Communication with your fleet manager is really important. Give him a call, and ask him about it. It's quite possible you were in a bad spot for freight, or you didn't have the available hours to match up to what was available... and that can certainly have an affect on your settlements. Read what ChuckTaylor put down, and pick his brain. While he was driving he was the best driver on the company board we were both on, and has won the company driver of the year award. He's one of the best resources a Prime company driver has on TTR.

    Wec Thanks this.
