I'm on Texas regional and I was hoping to get a load heading home in baton rouge but instead I have a load going to Clayton, New Mexico. Something tells me that the freight coming out of there is slim to none going towards home.

u pull a flat? yup youre right. Hopefully they got you a good rate going out there.
-
Did you tell him you wanted to go home?
-
Yea I'm flatbed...but I'm company. He told me I'll get loaded out of southern Colorado...and to make matters worse someone stole one of my tarps off my truck last night..Yea I told him..He told me he already had me down to go home due to the holiday
-
So call him in the AM... 1) let him know about the tarp... that sucks BTW. 2) Next question... What happened to getting home? 3) Make sure his notes on the load reflect you want home time. That won't get to the weekend guys unless its in there, and always be proactive about getting the second stringers in the know before they have a chance to dispatch you.
Sometimes the freight just isn't there to get you home... -
Don't worry, you'll get home one of these days.
-
sucks to hear about the tarp, that's happened to a few times recently. Where did you have it stored?
At the end of the day, if there wasn't freight headed in that direction there isn't much they can do, if you're a company driver they're not going to want you sitting until something comes up. -
I had my tarp strapped down under the headache rack. I'll call him before I roll out in the morning. I always thought if you keep bugging them about going home they will look down on you.
-
My FM wants me to bug him when it gets closer to the date I want to be home. -
Have a conversation with your BUSINESS PARTNER, aka your FM. That's different than "bugging him."
redoctober83 Thanks this.
