You must be my twin. That's my same 'career' goal and I'm from Alaska, though I live in Michigan, where I was when I retired from the FAA. If I didn't have grandchildren in Oklahoma, I would go home, not to drive, but to live in retirement.

Hey, I will be there on 11/3 also. I am driving from connecticut on Halloween night. Looks like about an 18 hour drive without traffic.

Yep i signed up too. on this past Wednesday.. just waiting for their answer. i guess they are checking on my back ground , jobs, driving record etc..wondering how long it takes to get an answer back ? anyways..they telling me they will pay for bus ride.. i check it out HOLLY cow it is a 31 hours bus ride... thinking about taking my car...but i,m guessing i wont be using much, first week school then on the road with a trainer for 3 weeks then the CDL test then back on the road with a trainer..It a good way to start the trucking Life. a bus Ride. 31 hours of it. ahhhhh

Riding the Dirty Dawg. It's a rite of passage for the new truck driver.

One possible alternative is to take Amtrak. They tend to be competitive with Greyhound's full fare. It may take longer to get there (more layovers), but it's a heck of a lot more comfortable.

I think $674 would be for a premium ticket. Try entering some different information in the Amtrak web site. I've found changing the boarding location, destination, day, or route can make a difference in price and tickets available. Look at an Amtrak route map for boarding and destination stations. Hopefully you can find a ticket for under $200.

Drink a lot of water, lay off of the salt and caffeine... and walk a lot.
