First of all our company trucks can do 62mph but most choose 57-58mph for the additional fuel bonus that is given out each week. Secondly for a training company do you really want someone who has never been behind of a semi doing 70-80mph without knowing if the can handle the truck at those speeds ? Third sure turnover is high but again we are a training company where many realize trucking is not for them and quit in less than a year. Fourth sure I the second phase of training one person drives and the other sleeps but there is still plenty of time for actual training as it is not run as a true team truck but more as a super solo truck.

What do you mean by downside ?

A company that has 90-120% or more turnover every year ?

Wouldn't you think a decent outfit would have better retention ?

Is it the rose colored glasses,

or a healthy referral bonus ..................

    Good Luck !

You know the answer to that numbers...ALL training companies have a high turnover rate because they're training companies. A lot of folks bail because the job is not what the expected, others leave because all they came for was "free" training. The reasons are many. There's another side too... only half of the drivers at Prime have less than a year of experience on the average... there's also a large contingent of experienced drivers as well.

Yep, this was basicly what I was getting at. I know about the turn over, some people are not cut out for the job. Am I one of those people who won't make it? Who knows, but simply by being here and educucation myself on "the facts" of the job from expierienced drivers who work for Prime I put myself in a better position than the typical applicant. Recruiters will paint beautiful pictures, that is their job. True professional drivers will give out facts as they have expierienced with the only motive being to have new drivers coming in who are just as professional and act like adults.

    1. We have a floral terminal in oregon. Primes turnover is much lower than above post. All I can tell you is my experience

    1. I am treated by prime very well.
    2. The company trucks are governed at 6 the lease 65. But I drive slower like 55 beca use it makes me more money

3 the 40k miles fore training is short. Most of my trainees stay out with me longer. Most of the time I pay them extra unless they just aren't pulling their weight

Well I pulled the trigger a little over a week ago, still no word back yet. Gave the recruiter I spoke with a quick follow up voicemail today as well. I move to Oregon tomorrow (500 Miles in a 67 VW, joy). Plan to settle in quick and get my study on so CDL permit is in hand. Fingers crossed they have room in a class before the end if the year. Can't wait! :)

Well I got a call from them yesterday and it looks like I need to clear up a problem with a ticket from last year. The County reported the same issue to my MVR 3 times making it look like I got 3 tickets for the same speed 3 times in one day. However the Recruiter sounded positive if I can clear that I will be in good shape. Now if I can just get a government agency to do something that does not generate money in their pocket. :biggrin_25511:
