Prime needs some sort of data base avalible to the drivers on places to dump or donate overage or damaged product. Had a Railex load of carrots yesterday and had about 3000lbs of them refused. Railex told me to dump or donate, so just where would dump or donate 300bs of carrots ? Well after calling several local food banks which were closed on a Sunday, I went to the fuel desk at the Pilot I was at and they gave me the number of a guy that works with the Salvation Army. Of course they couldn't use that many carrots but they took it all anyway and were going to send some of it to a local pig farm for feed.

So here or some of the place I have checked with in the past:

Web search of local food banks or Salvation Army
Ask the fuel desk at a local truck stop
Ask the local washout as that has worked for me
call local police or fire station ( non-emergency number of course)

lets hear some other ideas that some of you older drivers have used in the past.

A few years ago I had a couple of pallets of breakfast potatoes rejected in Northern Virginia. I called around and found one place that was excited about taking them. I got there and the media were there. The food bank had been closed because of a lack of donations. I pulled up and several good people were there donating food with me. We all unloaded the trailer and I made the news. Awesomeness. Lol. If you have a smartphone, just put food banks in the search, you'll strike gold.

I love hearing about things like this. You're gesture positivity impacted many people. Most won't make the effort. Good on you, Sir.

Proud of everyone who takes the time to donate any overage / damaged merchandise rather than dump it.There are plenty of needy folks in our Country. Remember Karma.

Food banks are great for donating food. I used to pull onions out of California. When I had some rejected or an overage I would try to make it back home with them and give them to my local community kitchen (food bank). These people can always use food, no matter what you have and are glad to get it.

I've found it's easier to donate to the local mob than "not for profits". I had an egg product delivery to Charlotte recently, and ended up with 800 pounds of refused product. I then proceeded to call all the food banks, religious organizations, and what nots. 6 hrs later I ended up getting the local wash out company to take it for free, AND paid them $105 to rinse out my trailer. I still laughed as I pulled away...knowing that all the crack ho's and riff raff would be eating quiche that night - courtesy of that mega company producing that crap for consumption.

Local jails will gladly take donations too and don't feel like your donating to criminals remember us tax payers pay for their food anyway

i would much rather donate and do so regulary. It's always good to help others. I have a good life. It's nice to try to give that to others too, even for a moment.
