So wife and I head to Prime PSD November 23. I know it says to bring 2 weeks worth of clothes, warm weather and.cold weather. I myself love th cold, my wife the complete opposite. Plus cold here in Southern California is nothing compared to back east.
Any suggestions on what cold weather gear we should get/bring?

Good heavy coat, carhart is best in my view and you can pick one up at the Springfield shop, and a good set of cold weather glove, again you can get them in Springfield. Also a good pair of boots.
PChase and lakerized805 Thank this. -
Yeah those fuel stops out in no where Wyoming get kind of chilly in the middle of the night when it is -19 with a wind chill of -36
PChase Thanks this. -

ND SD MT MN WI can be -50 with -90 chill factor. The coldest I've ever seen was -50 in SD MN, the coldest I've ever been was fueling along Lake Erie in PA at - something with wind blowing across the lake in Lake Effect snow and had to hold the nozzle for 200 gal. Carhart coveralls for her from Aramark with the red lining and coat for you, wool hats and you can get by w/o boots as long as you have hiking boots.
Chucktshoes, lakerized805, PChase and 1 other person Thank this. -
Worst weather I've ever seen is a toss up between Winnipeg or upstate NY. Built a radio tower in Winterpeg in Jan. Temp was -40 on the Celsius scale on the ground and God awful at 200-500 feet in the air on a steel stick. Stationed at Ft. Drum for 3 years and saw -50° F while in the field numerous times.
Find a military surplus store and get a set of the polypropylene long johns. Then a set of Goretex outerwear. We wore that setup on deployment to Antarctica when the temps were -30° F as a daily high. Never once even shivered, except that one day it dumped 28" of snow and we all got soaking wet. Took the brains of the Army 4 hours to figure out that 5 people had hypothermia then another two hours to get Snowcats to us to get us out of the frozen hell.
Or, a set of Carhart Extremes. That's what I wore in Winnipeg. Not as warm as the military gear, but was good enough for 2-3 hours in those temps.
I seriously just shivered reminiscing about those cold days. I'll take my desert 115° any day of the week over anything below 60°. Brrrrrrrr.lakerized805 Thanks this. -
Could layer up. I'm an order selecter for sysco work in frz avg -10 to -15 in our frz I wear and under armour cold gear long sleeve with reg shirt over it n a hoodie then under armour cold gear long johns with sweat pants over them n stay pretty warm with not a ton of clothes on. On side note does get cold out there on the road use to ride with my dad remember one time over Christmas n having to placard a hazmat load in WI was like -50 with wind chill
lakerized805 Thanks this. -
Can anyone tell me where carhart is? No results in google maps! Thanks!

Look up work clothing. Or go to carhart.com and find a retailer.

My bad...it's two "t's" as in Carhartt.
