Enough to satisfy the Colorado requirement. You need 1 chain, and 3 cables for whichever size drive tire is on your tractor... most likely a wide single. If you have to chain up in maximum chain situations in California or say Oregon, you'll need more, but they can be purchased on the road as necessary. The company will cover you for this if you're a company driver.

    albert l Thanks this.

Oregon requires 6 chains. All four tires on traction drive wheels on truck and 2 chains on trailer.

Doesn't matter for one of our company drivers, unless he's running OR with chain restrictions up.

His question refers to what does the company require that he has on board... Colorado minimum requirements, or enough to do his drive axles.

Keep you from jackknifing when you hit the brakes. Your trailer brakes lock up pretty easy in the snow and ice

If you're so close to the next vehicle that you need to "hit" your brakes, you're too dang close in the first place.

I have enough chains to wrap all 4 of my drives and cables to do 2 trailer tires either wide or regular,
