Well if you don't like one, don't plan on quitting for the other unless you want to work somewhere else for at least a year.

There are agreements between Prime and all the Advance Fleet partners (Wil-Trans, O&S, Henderson) not to poach each other's drivers... you can quit one, just can't work for another for at least a year...

    So I've been told.

I dont want to quit any company. Only reason im looking for a new/different company is because where im at now things havr slowed way down because of the winter. Im currently working a decent local/regional gig hauling heavy and oversize equipment. I miss the open road.

Ha ha. Thread's starting to not make sense...

By the way, O&S bragged that they had a kennel in their terminal, they were so dog friendly. Very funny. When I visited, every door had a 'No Dogs Allowed' sign--I mean, every door. When I asked to see the vaunted 'dog kennel' got an awkward, you want what? "Oh, that." And was directed out back through foot deep grass, past a dead RV, to a 10' square dog pen and inside was the same foot-tall grass and a plastic, igloo-type dog house.

That was the vaunted 'dog kennel'.

Hadn't been used for a coon dog's age and then some.

Sounds like these companies are in bed together. And this thread a lame attempt to resurrect interest in them... Stick with your regional gig, OP. You're far better off. From heavy and oversize equipment to Prime or Wil-Trans? Give me a break!! Sheesh!! These are meat grinders.

Im just saying choose wisely. If you get hired and don't like plan A, then plan b is actually plan c.

Prime doesn't have a kennel, but they do have an indoor pet washing station at the detail shop plaza. Ive never used it, but I hear its coin operated.

Didn't see it. Did see trainers on the hunt for newbies, though. Prowling.

"Hey, guy!! You looking for a trainer?? ..."

Im certainly not looking for a trainer. I have a problem dealing with most smaller companies not wanting to take care of equipment, screwing people over. Ive never been to a training school and dont plan on it ever. The job I got now is good, but now that winters here im not making enough money to get by. Summer time over a grand a week is normal, now im scraping by to make 500, and im paid hourly. Im not trying to ressurect these old companies, I was just looking for info about wil trans, seems like most people ive talked with know nothing about them, or say they are the worst company out there.

You are far too skilled if doing heavy haul to bother with these. Don't know what your timeline is, but the Xmas rush is on for some outfits. The slowdown for freight is usually mid-January thru March, picks up April-ish. Drivers will start baling out of otherwise good companies as there are no longer enough miles to go around. Larger carriers seat as many trucks as they can to meet their peaks and someone has to sit when there's not enough freight, which there won't be. So drivers move over to companies that feed them miles to humor them and let drivers they decided are expendable sit.

It's a game. Ring around the rosies, pockets full of posies, we all sit down... someone gets a seat with miles, someone doesn't. Happens every year. Carriers use it to cull the herd.

Might be better to look for some part-time gig to supplement your regional (currently less than full-time right now) job through the winter, doesn't have to be trucking, either.

You just need something that fits, dovetails with what you've got.

hmm, whatever you say. last year
January was probably my best month, but you know everything. Stop trolling around forums of companies you've never worked for.

If that's directed at me, not sure what you're bickering about. Am sure the OP would be interested in your 'superior knowledge' and, if you have some, so would I. Made the trip, visited both, found both wanting in major departments. Was worth the trip even if only to scratch both off my list.

If you think OP shouldn't scratch Prime/Wil-trans off his (as I do), we'd all be interested in your good reasons. As far as making money in January, YMMV (Your Miles May Vary). The OP's work is slowing and he's looking for options.
