    Hello all,
I figured I would start a post for my journey with PRIME.

I do not start orientation until Jan. 19th that way I am able to get a couple paychecks saved up from my current job, pay up on some of bills for the next few months to hopefully not have to use the 200$ advanced.

I've read and researched a lot about PRIME through here on Truckers Report and numerous other sources.

I am excited to begin my journey in the trucking industry.

    A little about me:
My name is Justin, 21 been working in a call center for the past several years and a factory for a little while to. I am not married, nor do i have any kids. My grandfather use to drive down in Florida hauling lime rock and thats where i first learned about trucking in general he used to take me with him on the summer months and i fell in love.

I plan on using the next couple weeks to study for my CDL-A permit, and get it here in Ohio, i also have to order a copy of my birth certificate.

My plan is to go with the flatbed division with PRIME if thats not available then with the Drvan/Reefer. I plan on staying as a company driver for a year or so then I will go from there.

I am not sure how the winter is in Springfield if any of you have any suggestions on what type of cold weather gear i should bring, i plan on getting a good sleeping bag, a good heavy duty winter coat as some overalls.

I will update this once i start attending orientation.

The application process was a little slow but not long at all. I applied the 9th of Dec and was accepted today. My Recruiter was Lane Williams. We had some problems getting employment verification and i was getting nervous thinking i was not able to be approved to attend prime so i emailed Lane asking what i could do to help with the process he told me if i can get the w2's or a irs wage income transcript(free) that it would speed the process. Well i did that today and few hours later i received the good news.

Overall process was easy and I am glad i was able to be accepted as I have an accident from this year in January of a rear end collision and have been turned down by a few other companies.

    Thanks,
    Justin

Welcome to trucking Justin! Expect it to be cold in Springfield, sounds like you will be prepared. I would suggest comfy shoes for running around the week of orientation and a workboots with good traction. If your going flatbed they could have you helping tarp loads real soon :biggrin_1square: so I hope nice work gloves are in your stocking.

I do need to pick up a new pair of sneakers, i have a brand new pair of steel toe work boots(I prefer boots over sneakers any day) I'll probably end up picking a couple pair of work gloves as i seem to loose one glove every now and then -_-. I'm excieted. I'm hoping there is positions available for flatbed and or a flatbed trainer available if not I'll do dryvan/ reefer untill i can cross over to flatbed.

I'm excited. I want to just to be albe to leave asap but i need to make sure i have my bills paid for the next couple months first.

Good luck to you! Check out Sears Nordic Track brand clothes, very good value and most of it is really well thought out.

Coming from Ohio, you should do fine in terms of clothing for SPRIMO. There's a Super Walmart within easy walking distance from where you'll be staying, and the company store has most specialty items you might need at reasonable prices.

Its best to have a checking account with a debit card to deal with your finances set up before you come. Direct deposit to the account is a good way to deal with money on the road. Internet access to the account allows you an easy way to deal with your bills.
