I'm sure someone has mentioned it to you but when you are in orientation you will sit a pretrip class/lecture. In the class you will learn a couple of simple easy to remember abbreviations to use for each element of the inspection.
PMS- Properly Mounted and Secure
CBB- not Cracked, Bent or Broken
ABC- no Abrasions, Bulges or Cuts
you will also be taught about looking for leaks and to specify what each of the items would be leaking.
Example; Belt driven water pump, properly mounted and secure. It's not cracked bent or broken and not leaking coolant.
When you're out with your instructor you should get plenty of time to go over all of the pretrip info in order to easily pass.

Ok so the OP has his CDL and this PTI is a PRIME PTI and if so then that is why it is in Missouri where did you read this?
Or is that what "test out" means?
See when the OP said PTI fail what next it did not say it was for his CDL (could be getting it thru prime) or the prime only test and why I say what happens in my state as I thought it was for his CDL.
Please disregard my other post.

Just pay attention to the folder things are posted in... this one is in the Prime forum, posted by a CDL student driver in their PSD program. That means Missouri.
If you persist in obliviously wandering into the middle of online conversations without 'scoping the terrain before unleashing your keyboard, you're going to rapidly loose what little credibility capital you may possess.Reycer Thanks this. -

Don't fret about the time you will have to learn it. After the Thursday of your orientation week, you will probably have a few days in Springfield with nothing to do but wait to leave with an instructor and practice your pre-trip. You can get comfortable with a nice chunk of it, or probably even the whole thing altogether if you really want to, before you even leave Springfield on a truck.
Like others have said, it's actually pretty easy. Especially when you can look at the parts. It's a whole lot of repetition. You'll be fine. -
But, if you do get an instructor on Friday as intended, you will be much better off if you have it down already. Don't count on those extra days, though it does happen.
Sorry, I respectfully disagree on waiting. The sooner you get it down, the better. Should be on that as soon as possible. Got enough to learn on your hands during PSD as it is.
Hey, good luck on your upgrading, by the way.

Thanks!
I agree, for sure start working on it as soon as possible. I just meant chances are he may find a couple extra days there to get it down anyway.FullMetalJacket Thanks this.
