I'm assigned to Prime's Wal-Mart dedicated OTR division out of Olney, IL. I asked to be placed here because it keeps me close to home. I've been on this division for about a month now and I love it a thousand times more than traditional OTR.
I made this thread to see if there was anyone here who was also a part of this division, and if they had any tips, tricks, things to look out for they'd like to share with a newbie. I understand the best way to learn is through your own experience (and believe me, I have been learning!), but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask. Any advice is appreciated!

I'm a PSD on the olney account so not much I can say but cool to see another driver on here whose here to.
-
Headed down there tonight to start with a psd for a couple weeks to see if I like it or not.
-
I normally hang out a bit south of there at the Shelbyville DC, but I am headed that way on an interline run tonight. See y'all in the morning.

Should be back in the morning camped out in Evansville ran out of hours finishing my second load for yesterday

Currently sitting in Brazil, IN on my 10 before heading back. Hoping these winds will die down a bit by the time I get rolling.
Here's a question: How many folks on this account are solo lease ops? I've been thinking of trying it out at the end of the year and seeing if I can be successful at it, but it's never too early to start building a game plan. I wanted to know how others make it work, and get an idea what their numbers are. I would like to become an owner/op at some point, but I also enjoy this account, and as long as I'm at Prime, I'd like to stay here as long as possible. OTR just isn't my cup of tea. -
I know down here at Shelbyville that there isn't a single L/O. All of the O/O drivers here own their trucks outright. While good and steady for a company driver, it really isn't profitable enough to support a truck payment and provide a solid income on top of that. At least that is what I have been told by the O/O drivers here.
Truemac Thanks this. -
I'm in agreement with that. The store loads I've pulled out of the Lewiston DC are the pits... Prime requires L/Os who pull a load in take a store load after. You couldn't survive on the revenue from pulling Walmart loads, and paying for the lease on a truck. Don't even think about it.

Thanks for the info. Ah, that's really disappointing. I liked the idea of using Prime's lease program to get my feet wet, but I really don't want to go back to running all 48.
Back to the drawing board. -
Between the two facilities, there are 7 lease operators on the dedicated accounts. That's from the man in charge of the accounts at Prime in Springfield. I've only spoken with one here in Olney myself, and he's happy with what he's making compared to how he did OTR.
