Now that fuel costs have gone down, will Prime trucks go faster than 57 now?

I know you guys are given big money incentives for getting high mpg, but will Prime still be offering that now?

Whenever the right hand lane is going real slow with everyone moving over to the left lane to get around, you can bet it is a Prime truck causing it all. My truck is governed at 63 and that is bad enough.

    it's not really about fuel.

the insurance companies started this years ago.

    discounts for slower speeds.

    less damage from an accident.

I always thought these were lease ops trying to get as much profit as they could. I regularly see prime (company?) trucks doing 65.

Friend of mine bought some software in China and uses his laptop to hack into the car computer and change the settings. The speedometer shows half what the actual speed is, which is what he has to remember. If the speedometer shows he's driving 30 mph, then he's actually driving 60 mph. The cars computer thinks he's driving 30 mph also. When he trades the car in it will show half the actual miles on the car.
He found the software on Google.
He rented a car one time for a few months and changed the engine performance parameters. That car ran like a scalded dog. As a joke, he left it that way when he turned the car back in.

A truck driver did the same with the EOBR, but got caught after a few months. The company knew he was running too many miles because he got careless.

The fuel bonus is based on fuel economy over 7.75 mpg. That hasn't and won't change, and no, most Prime guys once they get the money thing figured out won't be going much faster than that. Sorry that you might actually have to use your skills as a professional driver, and safely pass slower traffic.

Really? Over about $3/gallon its every carriers largest controllable expense. So it's not about the money, eh?

See? It really IS about the money.

The newer trucks can get good mileage at higher speeds... recirculating less EGR through the engine since 2010, plus the new aerodynamic packages are doing a lot for that. It's not the company guys, they're still limited to 62, unless they have one of those guys in the back of the parking lot hack the ECM. When they get caught doing that, they'll be headed to Swift.

Because vehicles that are going 45 miles per hour shouldn't be on the expressway. There's a reason it's called an EXPRESSway. If you have that much time to kill you should take an alternate route, preferably one that has a lot of traffic lights and stop signs.

The only way I see is acceptable for you to go 45 on the e-way is in road construction, bad road conditions, if that's the speed limit, or if you have your hazards on. Otherwise you're a road hazard.

Its actually the opposite. Company drivers are governed at 62, and corporate wants them to run 58 whenever possible. The lease operators are governed at 65.
