OK Guys,
I need some actual advice from some of the new Prime drivers or some of the veterans as well. I am leaving the oilfield after 15+ years due to the dead oil prices. The oilfield paid me pretty well.
I am scheduled to start the Prime PSD class on 13 April. Can any of you give me some idea of "REALISTIC" pay starting out. I have a figure in mind that will clear my bills and leave just enough to get by for the first year. Bring home pay is what I am seeking. I know it will vary some depending on the miles, but if i can get an average close to the figure I have, it would ease my mind considerably. After the first year maybe I can get into the tanker division and make it a little more comfortable.
Can anyone give me any figures that I can use to make this determination?????
Thanks in advance!!!!

My first full years gross was a tick under $49k
Was home every month for 4 days off and used my 5 days vacation just before the end of the yearFullMetalJacket and bentbiker Thank this. -
I'm a little different as I am in a Walmart dedicated account, but I am taking home between $850-1100 a week. If the year continues the same as it has, I will gross between $55 & $60k this year as a company driver.
FullMetalJacket, bentbiker and YoungGuns Thank this. -
Thanks everyone. I must say, the answers I am getting is a little re-assuring. I was having a terrible time thinking how I would make it on $30-35k a year. May not be impossible, but sure would not be easy...

A number of years back I was grossing just under $50k per year. That was at a lower pay scale, and through the mess in '08/'09. Its safe to day you'll do fine here. You mentioned tankers? Its primarily a upper Midwest, east coast fleet, although they get runs in all 48. It probably pays a bit better than reefer, but from where I sit, I'd say there's more BS to put up with.
bentbiker Thanks this. -
Again, Thanks everyone for information. My mind is made!!!! HERE I COME! I am excited to get started. 13 April can not get here soon enough!
