Anyone have info on primes cdl training. They say you get your permit and then go out on the road for 3 weeks then you take your test. Is this true or do you have to drive a certain amount of miles b4 they let you get your cdl. And is it true that they pay you while in training. Let me no any info you have.

Yes sir. It will be about 4 weeks all together to get your CDL. You will log 100 hours of instruction behind the wheel which is great because no school will give you that type of experience in order to get your CDL. We pay you $240 per week for the up until you get the CDL. This will go on your card the day you get on the truck. I think it is on the 4th day you are there. After the initial screening and physical and such. Trust me, you will drive plenty of miles and if you catch on quick you could be back and tested in about 2.5 - 3 weeks. If you want to become an o/o, then you will go on a truck with another trainer or the one you are with already for a combined total of 60,000 more miles between you and your trainers log books. He will teach you how to rake in the *$$$* and for the most part you will run as a team and he will be your employer and pay you 12cents for every mile the truck is dispatched not necessarily how far it is driven. Or you will get $600 for the week which ever one is more. Then you get your truck! Hope it all works out for you as great as it does for everyone else!

    Be good and be safe

And do you no about the liscense. Do you take the test in springfield or in your hometown. and they say if you already have a permit you can bring it but it cant be paper? what does that mean.

You will take the test for your CDL right there at the site. Later you will need to transfer it to your own state but I did it about 8 months after I got mine in FLA. Im not sure what the paper one would mean but what they are trying to say is the permit needs to be issued from the DOT as a CDL permit and you will turn it in to the DOT in exchange for your license. All you need to do is to go and get your book test done and then get our picture permit. If your state does not offer a picture permit then you will need to check into it further on your end. I would not know what to do at that point.

Years ago most states issued a Paper saying that it was your permit ... you carried that along with your regular license .... now a days I believe they add it to your license or give you a new one that states on it that it is a class a permit

The CDL program at Prime was excellent for myself and my 22 yr old son. I got thru ut in 2 weeks him in 3. We're both out with a trainer currently with only 2-3 weeks left before we get together. It has taken about 2 1/2 months to get 50,000 miles you get a 10,000 credit if you go thru school with Prime even if you only drive 4000 during cdl part of training.

You'll take your test right here by our certified tester's but keep in mind their just as tough if not tougher then a state tester. But don't panic if you hav problems first time they give you two more chances before sending you back out with a instructor again. My son and I both ppassed first time. the instructors are very good at getting you ready, you'll be training in a real world enviorment none of this simulator crap or driving around the companies yard for 3 weeks, you go out and actually delivery loads.

If you have more question private mail me.

    Good luck
    Rich

Does Prime seem to be a good company to work for? My hubby is looking to go their. We want to team drive and I found it to be the only place they will let him train me.
    Thanks

Even if it was not the only place to let him train...it is so good here that I will not be considering leaving until I start my own fleet

$240.00 per week? Website says, "
    C Seat
$500 per week minimum or .10 cpm max paid on all dispatch authorized miles"

Earn the greater of 12 cents per mile or $600 per week* as a "B" class.

    * if available to work 7 days per week.
