Just got off the phone with my recruiter (Gracie, what a talker!) after sending my on-line app. yesterday. No holding, playing phone tag, etc... Good first contact. Will know by WED if approved. Should be all good; been approved at three other companies already. Two questions she needed to get back to me on:

1: I hate buses. So if I drive down where can I leave my vehicle during instruction and training?

2: I already have my permit and DOT Medical Certificate (required for your IN permit.) Will I still need to take a company physical?

U2 and Ironpony, thanks to you and all the others for the very informative thread.

You can drive down and leave you vehicle....just bear in mind it could be months before you get back to it if you get an instructor and trainer and then you will have the issue of getting it back home when you are assigned a truck. I flew down and was picked up at the airport by Prime. 4 hours on a plane vs 26 on a bus....easy choice. Your recruiter can tell you what Prime's cost is on the bus ticket and you can get reimbursed what they would have spent on the ticket to get you there. If you drive, Prime will pay you .10 cpm mileage to get there. You will have to take the physical again when you get there. Good Luck.

ok guys I got a quesiton. You all know I left training because of high blood pressure. Now I went to the doctor and got on meds. The thing is they didnt DQ me, because for you to get DQ'd on tuesday they take your bp and its high so you go back wed and they take it. if its to high they send you home you see a doctor and then you have to get your bp checked once a week for a month and if all 4 readings are good you can come back. Well since i left on my own without getting DQ'd do you think I still have to wait the month? or do you guys think I can go back this coming week? well its probably next week

Im going to get on my soap box and rant about greyhound/ jefferson lines buses for one minute. I advise you go ahead and drive there simply because, they suck. They tell you that you are responsable for making sure your bags get on the bus. Well I was in Fort Smith, Ar at 0150 Wed. morning. I tried to make sure my bags were on the bus heading to Conway, Ar. Well when i was making sure the little bus depot dude told me to step back and not to worry about it and that my bag will be on the bus. So I think OK this guy is going to take care of it. WRONG! I get to conway and my bag is no where to be found. Now this was on wed. June 3rd. Today is Saturday June 6th. STILL NO BAG! noone knows where it is and it loooks like noone really gives a #### either. So I called up Jefferson Lines and told them that every peice of my clothing is in that bag and I have been wearing the same clothes for the past 3 days and that I want my money back. So we'll see how long it takes me to get my stuff back.

Anyways sorry I just had to rant about that piece of #### bus company

You left without getting tested the next morning?

There were half a dozen guys in my class who passed the second day because they got a good night sleep, stayed away from caffiene and cigarettes, and all the other advice the nurse gave them.

You need to do what they told you to do. Take your meds and Get 4 weeks of BP reading from the Dr. Even if they didnt tell you, you obviously know what you are supposed to do.

If you show up in a week, you are going to go through the physical again, and you will have to disclose your medication... and when they find out that you have only been prescribed for less than a month, they will just send you home again... the four weeks are to see if you are responding to treatment.

Ditto. I think all but maybe one guy who failed the BP test the first time passed the second time around. Those nurses know what they are talking about. They know you're nervous about entering a new career / switching companies and orientation is a bit stressful. If you do what they tell you to do, you have a much better chance on passing.

It's all good though, just take your meds, spend lots of time with your friends / family for the next 4 weeks, and we'll see you back in a month.

Good luck!

I highly doubt they tow any car out of that lot... have you taken a look around the POV lot...

Some of those cars have to be abandond.... flat tires... expired tags from 2003... One car looks like it had its window taped up to keep it from falling down. Its come down about 3 inches and hasnt moved the last 4 times I was in the lot (over a 6 month period) Imagine what the interior smells like after being exposed thru winter.

I mistook the lot near between the pad and the building as the long term lot.... My car was there 6 weeks and had a tow notice on it. They never notified me. Even with my Prime Sticker with ID# the could have messaged my truck...

So I doubt they send a message down to security, "hey this "shmuck" just quit... If he has car here, tow it"

In any case, simple logic would say that if you are going to quit... quit where you left you vehicle, and then you wont have to worry about how to get your car home.
