It seems that every Prime I pass is only doing about 62. Noticed this a month or two ago.

That's part of it. Our trucks are specified to have the "sweet spot" around the mid to high-50's with new tires. All of our trucks are being speed limited at 65 or lower depending on whether you're lease or company. Some of the existing lessee's still can run at 72 or 76, but all you're doing at those speeds is spewing dead presidents out of the stack that could be going into your pocket.

That alone won't get you into the 7.5 to 8 mpg range, but it's a start.

getting 7-8 on the Pete at around 60mph and progressive shifting. Seldom above 1200-1300 rpm. Stuck in Ontario,CA at the TA till tomorrow waiting for appt. Lots of Prime in the area and no emptys so here we sit. Question for company guys..... been out 6.5 weeks and don't see any real hometime coming before I finish my 50,000 miles I need. Will Prime allow me to take a week or so off before I pick-up my company truck so I am not killed by the 4 day max at home with a truck deal? Lease-ops I talk to are still getting unburied from the winter but it does seem to have picked up a little. Have a great 4th everyone.

I took a week and a half... they expected me to take 2 weeks. You will have to pay find your own way home and back... but I doubt it will be a problem if you tell them that is your plan.

My original plan had my trainer dropping me off at home and then coming in for upgrade...

Reality had me coming into the yard at completion... doing upgrade classes... me getting a rental car home... and then coming back after 10 days to pick up my truck.

Make sure you keep you FM in the loop and they are cool with it.

Update on me... I took 4 days off at my parents house... load delivery had me off the last 4 days and me coming back out today on the 4th of July. Checked in with the FM and told him I was ready to go ... He told me to not even bother and be this morning ready on Monday...

So I will have had almost 7 days off... as my last load delivered last Monday morning and I dropped my empty Monday afternoon. That is very refreshing that my FM gave me a few extra days then the max allowed (4days).... I didnt expect it, or ask for it... but I am very appreciative.

Either way its fine with me... I will take 7 days off... Ive been averaging over 2500 miles per week since my last hometime 6 weeks ago... I am definantly not hurting in the wallet. I was top 5 in fuel milage last week... that includes my NE, WY, UT, NV, and CA climbs.

I believe his quote was, "I can try and get you moving if you need the money, but if you want, we can just plan on you coming out on Monday"

This WILL NOT work at Prime. The fuel bonuses for Company Drivers are calculated off of mileage and fuel data off of the Qualcomm units on the trucks thru their Sensortracs feature. So even if you put fuel in the truck with cash, the QC will still calculate it just like fuel you put in on your fuel card.

If you need to get to Charlotte as a team it shouldn't be a problem. We do a lot of produce out of Cali to a warehouse just south of Charlotte.

I forgot about that... Sensortracs resets with the addition of fuel. It simply calculates fuel milage between stops, whether you fill the tank or add a couple of gallons.
