Talked with a recruiter today. Apparently Prime does currently require you to obtain your cdl permit before you arrive in MO.

Want to train my wife when she comes
I am hoping to be coming to Prime for CDL training within the next 3 months, my question is, how long do I have to be a driver before I could become eligible to train my wife? One year or two?

As long as your wife has her cdl permit she may be behind a wheel of tractor and anyone with a cdl can teach her. As far as the time frame that you must be a driver with prime before they would allow you to teach her, I would call and ask a recruiter(they might not even know) or once you get there I would ask your trainer.

Please also keep in mind that just because she has her cdl permit it does not necessarily mean that prime would like her behind the wheel of one of there trucks without an approved instructor. Of course this could vary if you decide to become a company driver or owner operator.

Our plan is for me to go with Prime and get my training, and then she will come to Prime for her training. She just doesn't want to train with another man, she wouldn't feel comfortable. We want to drive company for a couple of years and learn everything we can before we lease or become o/o. Thanks for all the input!

You are welcome and I would say thats defnitely a good plan. You could also check with prime about getting your wife a female trainer(assuming they have them, bc I have no idea) That way you could kill two birds with one stone and be out on the road driving teams instead of having to wait the required length of time for her to start training with you.

TNT trainers have to be recommended by their FM, I have known some to go as early as 6 months. TNT trainers trainer drivers who already have their CDL, or have just received their CDL.
PSD trainers must have 1 yr experience and recemmendations from their FM.
U may wish to check with U2 as he is a trainer, but that is how it was explained to me.
