There are a million reasons why someone might not respond to your generous social gesture...
- Too busy trying to keep a four-wheeler from running into him.
- Too busy deciding whether he passed the exit to his destination.
- Too busy keeping the truck between the lines, and on the road.
- Too busy grippin' the wheel on his 2nd PSD day in the truck.
- Didn't see you.
- Couldn't respond in time...
However, if you start giving the one finger salute, your compadre (below) will have something to grouse about. And so will other drivers. What happens when a four-wheeler makes the mistake that the salute is meant for him? Road rage? Possibly. Reporting you to the company. Possibly.
Get enough driver complaints from the public, and it will be suggested that you should get employment elsewhere. If you catch my drift.
And if someone waves a couple of fingers (rather than the ONE) - viewing it at the right angle would make it look like a single finger, yes? You've got perhaps 1 second at 30 yards (wide median) or less than a quarter second at 5 yards to focus and interpret what you're seeing.
Just saying... could you be mistaken? Very possibly.
In the 5 years I've been driving for Prime I have never encountered another driver sending me that message. And suggesting that all of us are diss'ing you on an open public forum doesn't do anything for our image. That's something we have enough trouble with considering the bonehead stuff the newer folks engage in out of sheer lack of experience.

Yes It's possible. I didn't take or mean it to be offensive as they had a toothy grin.

I completely understand all your points IP and I understand that. At no time was I condemning the entire reefer fleet. I was talking about the 15 out of what? 5000 other drivers out here.

Im with DA1. Its a big game. How many Prime drivers can I get to wave back? Some actually make an effort to wave. Some dont even look. If I see a driver with both hands on the wheel, looking straight ahead, with someone in the passenger seat.... Its PSD. Im not going to hold it against anyone to wave at me.

Heck I'm so #### proud to be driving a big ole prime truck and get so darn excited just to see another one pass by going the other direction I hang half way out the window and wave frantically. NOT....
I do wave though, and agree with the others. Most don't wave back. Whether it's for any of the reasons IP posted or that they just don't give a darn I really don't care. I will just keep on waving.
I've had Prime drivers pull right on the side of me on fuel islands, shippers and receivers, parking lots and walk right by without even a hello.
I just figure it's a sign of the times. People nowadays don't know how to socialize face to face. the only way they know how to talk to one another is behind a cell phone or a computer screen.
Sign of the times.....

After I figured that quite a few waved at me my first year out, I started waving at all of 'em. A lot of those folks went elsewhere during the great Wallstreet money grab n' pickpocketing of the middle class exercise a couple of years ago. Seems like most of the guys in the lightweights don't wave.
Still ain't had anyone flip me the bird...
Except maybe that tarpless clown.
