    APU finally kicked the bucket...

On the subject of idling, do those of you in my position just idle all night or what? I feel bad burning up the fuel, but that low battery voltage alarm waking me up every few hours sucks more than killing my MPG... I've never found out the hard way how low you can take the battery voltage before it won't start in one of those things, but I know car's aren't very happy below 12v.

Oh yeah, i'm in a peterbilt with no idle shut off.

Yes, anything that's not true. Including lies by omission.

Also, don't put anything that they don't ask for. If they ask for all speeding tickets in the last 5 years, go back 5 years. Not 6.

When I went through PSD orientation, I had two tickets on my record, about a year apart. The cutoff fell between them, so I only listed the more recent one. At the safety interview, I was asked about the one I didn't list. I simply told them that it was older than they asked for, and that was it.

Be up front, open, and honest on your application. Prime *will* find what you're hiding when they do the background check. It's better to find out that you have a disqualifying issue before you leave home. If you go to Springfield and you are disqualified there, you get to find your own way back home... not even a ride to the Greyhound station.

Delays happen for any number of reasons. I've heard that there are more students than instructors right now. I've also heard from instructors/trainers that they don't take students during winter.

    Just be patient.

    That's a Recruiter Question<TM>...

Get routed into one of the yards, 'n get it fixed. It's up to you, you're lease correctomundo? If so, it's your money you're burning up. The fuel bill after a week or so will convince you of the wisdom of getting it fixed pronto.

Don't leave out anything, and be truthful about all of it. In these days of internet background checks, they'll find anything you try to hide. It's better to put it down than to be asked why it isn't there, and what else are you trying to hide. That's usually a deal killer.

Apparently there is a shortage of instructors available this fall... when you put in your app, they'll give you a reasonable starting date that won't have you spinning your wheels at the terminal.

I've heard that as well, but we haven't had anyone confirm that's what their check got bumped to.. Understand that starts AFTER you get your CDL, you have to be on the truck, and available for dispatch. That figure would be pre-tax, and there will be deductions for the usual stuff. Most folks choose to have payments taken out for passport and TWIC credential fees, and some equipment you'll want after training. They make that sort of thing reasonable.

I'm company, won't get to a yard until Monday at this point. I have a half day today and then I'm sitting until my 90 opens Monday morning.

If your sitting for that long they should reimburse you for a room, or put money on your card for a room. But otoh we are in weekend dispatch world now...

I left prime orientation after being there for a week and half and I was told that I wasn't going to owe them money, but I received a bill saying I owe them $3500. This totally sucks #####!
