Not sure about the exact number, but you'll be paid far less after training at Swift... at least from what I read in their forums. Company drivers at Prime are paid for all miles loaded and empty, and the variable fuel bonus is paid on total miles as well. Prime recently bought the old Swift terminal in Salt Lake when they moved into the Central Refrigerated facility (they're all one big happy family now) because of the size of the property and the zoning. Judging by the state of that place (it's scheduled to be torn down and replaced) if that's what Swift thinks their drivers deserve, you don't want to be one of their drivers.

Until I go solo with Prime... How many weeks can I expect to be away from home during all my training. I have worked in the offshore oil field and am used to long tours away from home... just need to give the wife a heads up...

That's something you can work out with your trainer and fleet manager, however, you'll have to be back in Idaho to transfer your license with 30 or 60 days of getting your CDL. The next logical break is when you're assigned your own truck when you go solo. If you get off the truck during training for a long stretch at home, there's always the problem of routing your trainer back to pick you up. Being that you're from Boise is a plus... you could get dropped off on a trip up to OR or WA, and get picked up a couple of days later when your trainer is routed back out with a different load.

If you mean the ACE-II business class for lease ops, yes, by all means it is.

Not as bad as it used to be. Swift is now starting at 33 cpm, and bumps it up every few months so a 1 year driver is 36 cpm.

But yes, Prime does pay considerably better out of the gate. Plus, Swift company trucks don't have APUs or inverters...

No, get you CDL permit in ID before you leave, you will get your Class A in MO, then on your 1st trip home transfer it over to ID.

After training time on the road, and I get my cdl, and going solo (ie. ALL training is done)... how much does Prime pay per mile? And does Prime have any terminals somewhere around the Idaho area I can be based out of or is SpriMo the only one?

    Merry Christmas everyone!

As solo company driver, you will get a lightweight truck and recieve .43mi. (.38mi base +.05mi lightweight bonus).

In addition, there are bonuses paid for exceeding minimum fuel milage.

Rate & fuel bonus paid on both loaded and empty miles.

    Merry Christmas to you, too!
