Yeah, he needs to get routed into Springfield for the ACE II class... Its held a couple times a week... for sure on Sat mornings.

He will get a better understanding of where his money is coming from and where it is going... and maybe figure out how to stop the "bleeding".

They can go over his last month or even couple months of statements.

I dont know if they allow it, but maybe you could sit in on it too... you can get a better understanding and the two of you can work at getting this thing straight.

Does anyone have any idea how to go about requesting to be dispatched out of Springfield instead of Pittston? He has come in 2nd for two weeks in a row out of his fleet for fuel mileage and still no paycheck so we are kind of thinking that this may be our last ditch attempt to not turn the truck in. REALLY don't want to quit and go through starting over AGAIN with another company. Should he ask his dispatcher or go through the terminal manager? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Billsgirl, stupid question perhaps... when you say you've gone 8, 9, 10 weeks without a paycheck does that mean you are taking living expenses out in the form of advances at truck stops? Either way, I can't imagine staying at any business for that long under those conditions... something is definitely wrong on someone's part.

    Good luck,

    Jim

Yes, he has had to advance some money and that never helps. He is not advancing any more than 50.00 a week; sometimes he will take the available balance on the load he is hauling instead, which is sometimes around 20 or 30 bucks. Buying a minimum amount of groceries at walmart as I have been home for about 3 weeks to try and reduce overhead, not that I ate that much. I also am not a smoker and I don't spend 20 bucks in a Pilot everytime I go in to pee, but that way when he tries to talk to the powers that be, they cant throw in his face that he has a rider in the truck and that costs money. Whatever, to be honest I do believe that within the next 2 weeks or so we will probably be done there. Everyone says all I do is complain, and I apologize to those who feel that way. It seems like certain people on the Prime threads are cheerleaders who don't really portray an accurate picture of what is going on. Remember, he started out as a company driver for them too. Drove company for TransAm last year and we know the challenges of being a company driver but at least they get a steady paycheck, as small as it usually is. The economy is bad, that's for sure, and it's not getting better fast enough for us to be able to continue on in this manner. For those of you doing well, good for you and I am happy. If I thought Bill was a whiner or a slacker or lazy or any of that crap I would not be on this forum expressing my concerns. There are professional drivers out there, and he is one of them. Not SuperTrucker, just a man who cares about the way he looks, the way he presents himself to his company, shippers and receivers, and he is a guy who cares that stuff gets picked up and delivered ON TIME. Prime sells a service and he gives 110%. Basically, and I have stated this before, when you assume ALL the financial risk of the tractor business, it is not unreasonable to expect a paycheck. I understand businesses have bad weeks and every week you can not assume you will make 1200 bucks, but no one should be in the situation we are for this length of time. The promise of the next load being "the one" to get us out of the hole is getting old and it never comes through. Enough is enough.

Again, have you, or more importantly him, attended ACE II? The class is less than half a day and is given at Springfield and Pittston multiple times a week.

IF HE HAS NOT TAKEN ACE II (Or you): how can you blame Prime, when he wont take the steps to understand what is going on with his business and where the money is going. Or even say you have done everything you can on your end and Prime hasnt done anything.

I know this was suggested to you weeks ago, and neither a confirmation of having already attended, or any intention of attending has been forthcoming.

How can he afford to spend a day in Springfield or Pittston when we are almost a grand in the hole???????? His accountant at Perryman which is in Springfield at the Millenium Building looked over his settlements on the computer, they spent over an hour and a half on the phone and the accountant who's name I forget told him that there was nothing he could do any differently that would make a difference at this point in time. I know the ACE 2 class would be beneficial, you are right. But I do not believe that if he takes this class then all of a sudden he would be making money. He would get 200 bucks off his performance bond, that's about it for now. When a CPA who works in the freaking Millenium bldg tells you that you can't do anything different then I tend to believe him. I know you say all I do is complain but that class is not the Holy Grail to cure his problems and get him paid. Helpful, yes. Educational, definitely. I know you are extremely loyal to Prime and I commend you for it. Im glad they are taking care of you and I hope they continue to do so. Apparently this lease is not for us so we are taking steps to leave and will be doing so shortly. I do appreciate your advice, you are very knowledgeable and you have been so helpful. Im really not a b#$#! just frustrated. I love trucking, I love being on the road and I love everything that goes with it and it hurts when things work out this way, that's all. It's a certain type of person who can deal with living in a truck and I never thought I was that person, but I got diesel in my blood, whatever it is that makes you long for the road when you are off it. I don't even drive. It's the independence, the freedom and the crazy hours, I love it all, and I guess we just got into the industry just as the economy started to tank 2 years ago.

ACE-II is taught by our most experienced FMs - that's way different than Perryman and associates. Plus, Bill will be paid for his time - $100 or so I think.

As far as changing dispatchers or moving to Springfield, my guess is Stan Auman in Springfield is the fella to talk to. You might want to post the same question on the Prime driver board...

I'm not trying to be a smart ##### or anything, and please don't take it that way.

I can very much understand your frustration and anger. I have been in situations many times where dispatchers and companies have shafted and lied to me.

I know you are ready to give up. Before you ruin your DAC, credit, or cause any irreversible damage to your careers, listen to the people on here from Prime. Go to the ACE II class. It sure can't hurt, and I guarantee he will learn something. No one knows everything. You may think you have done all you can, but you may not have, and will find something he is missing.

I know two drivers can both do the same job, and one will fail, while the other prospers. They may have different dispatchers, they could have the same dispatcher, and he plays favorites, the loads could just work out to where one gets empty when better loads are available.

Who knows what the problem is. I do know that with your fixed cost, running solo is almost impossible to do and make it. A switch to Springfield might help also. Going to this class may help make that happen also.

You posted asking for help. Two people from Prime have came here offering the same advice. If you really want to give it all you can before throwing in the towel, listen to them.

Thank you u2, ironpony and stranger. Like I have said, you are all extremely knowledgeable about Prime and the trucking industry and I do know that your advice is good and it should and will be followed. In the back of my mind, I feel like if he gets routed to Springfield to take ACE 2 then perhaps he could talk to the powers that be in regards to getting his home terminal changed and kill 2 birds with one stone. Im off the truck so I can't take the course with him at this time but at least we will be able to say we explored every avenue and took every opportunity to try and better ourselves and if we end up walking away, we will know that it was not without a fight. Thank you again. Be safe out there.
